OMG OMG SOOOO CLOSE!!!!

So close to my long time goal of 20 mph over 20 miles.  I have to feel pretty good that I did this on a road bike, and that the first half was into a 15 mph headwind.   I'm sure if I put back on my aero bars and had perfect conditions I could obliterate that time.  Its been windy the past few weeks and I've been at its mercy.

I hate to brag but I thought this would break the monotony of the 'I think I hurt my achilles again' posts.

I know a 20 mph avg isn't a big deal for alot of people, but for me it is.

That is awesome! I bet you hit your goal really soon, especially if there was a strong headwind today.

I did 1:45 at the gym tonight and hour run and a 45 min swim. I felt good on both and set a new PR for an hour run (5.4 miles). I'll just try to get the rest of my time in during the last 3 training days this week.

Just go have fun at your Oly this weekend. I was under trained for mine in April and I wish I would have just enjoyed it more but I struggled during the run and that left a bad taste in my mouth. But the positive thing was that i finished and I'm now really working on my run. The next race I won't be under trained.

That's awesome that you came soooooo close to the 20 mph. I was watching the Tour de France today and the Peleton was cruising along at about 30+ mph and there was a guy that was pushing 265 watts and his Hr wat 130. I was like Holy Cow. I was impressed.

Hope everyone had a good training day.

I cracked 20mph for an hour+ ride for the first time earlier this year, and was really stoked about it.  The good news... only 2 months later I averaged 20+ mph for a century.  Of course, there's that darn 21 waiting for you after that, and then 22, and then...

Kudos!

I went to the doctor this afternoon to meet with a podiatrist (she actually ended up being an orthopedic surgeon) and get the results of my x-rays. The great news is that I don't have a stress fracture!!!! Smile She thinks that my shoes ended up irritating one of the nerves near my ankle which was causing the pain. I'm cleared to run at Vineman next week, she just said to take it easy and listen to my body and not push too hard. I'm so excited!

Great news and good luck next week, just remember not to listen to your body when you have about 3 miles to the finish!

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!  I have my first tri of the season tomorrow, the Musselman HIM!! Going to volunteer a little today at the BT sponsored aid station for the Mini Mussel!  This is always a great weekend and the heat wave has broke so the temps will be reasonable!!

Everyone else have a great weekend of training!!

My goal for tomorrow (besides taking it easy on the bike and not worry  so much about times) is to finish before Matt Reed and Tim DeBoom. Of course they start 1.50 after me. If that doesn't happen then having them pass me on the run will be fun to experience also Wink.

I had a 40 mile ride this morning and the heat and humidity took a toll on me with about 7 miles to go. I need to get out on the road by 5:30a next weekend. I started using Heed on my ride today and I'll have to work on getting my calories and electrolite replacement. Just need to keep hammering on the longer rides (40+ miles) to get my neck and shoulders use to the distance.

PennState - 2010-07-11 6:59 AM Hey any LP people want to discuss how crappy they feel 2 weeks out from the event?

Kathleen-hope you rocked your event.

Ken-as always, it was nice to see you at Musselman and volunteer with you (it was great seeing the BTers out there!).  Can I just say how much I love volunteering at the sprint distance????  It's so cool to see those folks, many doing their first race, and feeling like I've accomplished so much just by handing them water, a sponge, or flashing a smile? Ha!  The words "thank you volunteers!" are absolute music to my ears, too!

So... I fricking feel like hell with just 2 weeks to go to IMLP.  I tried doing a 2 hour run earlier this week and ended up with a 1:40 run at a half-azzed pace.  Tried to do a 2 hour run today (since I couldn't swing the 3 hour ride/20 min brick run today) and only got in 1:20 this time.

IT TOOK 45 MINUTES FOR MY BODY TO FIND A GROOVE!!!!!  I was running a 13 min pace for the first 3-4 miles.  I chalk it up to being on my feet in imitation birkenstocks all day yesterday while we were volunteering, walking around the race, and walking around downtown Geneva.  My hamstrings were tight as hell when I tried sleeping last night which caused tossing and turning to get a comfy spot.

PLUSSSSSSSSSS!!!! My sinuses are messed up, too (I'd like to use the term f**ked up because it's a better description, but you all have done an awesome job keeping the vulgarity to a minimum, so....).  I did a nasal rinse, tried Zyrtec, Zyrtec-D, drops in my ears post swim/post shower and at my massage the therapist focused on my HEAD instead of the rest of my body for a solid half hour. Man that hurt.  The weather and allergens is driving my head batty.  I haven't been able to hear out of my right ear in over a week.

Plus... I sleep a lot.

If you guys say it gets better I will believe you though!! Sealed
