That way we'll have some new voices but we can keep the core group together. I can direct them down here and we all can keep posting down here or if we want our thread to be "on top" again, we can move back up top. Thoughts? Suggestions? Does that work? I really want to keep this group going as so many of us are finally starting to head into the "real" tri season. |

http://www2.brightroom.com/browser.aspx?eid=81756&bib=160 Nice piccies! I love it when you can get pics of yourself racing (not just to show everyone "look see i told you i was a triathlete!" but I think you can also learn a lot about your form by seeing a pic). Oh, i dont know if its just me, but i cant get your link to your blog to work. Thought i'd better point it out in case the link is broken.
Hmmmmm..... I'll check the link. If you really want to check it out.
Nice race report (and I'm now a blog "follower"). Executing a good run is the hardest part of a tri. I personally like the saying -- there's no such thing as a good bike followed by a bad run. The goal to aim for is no more than an 8% difference between your open running time and your triathlon running time -- if you get close to that mark you know you've trained and executed properly.
except when your bike is in the top 5 of the field.......lol!!!!!

i would be honored if you invited me back to the new mentor group, i know i dont post much so i wont take up much space, but i think this is one of the best groups i have seen, and would like to stay involved, if you would not mind. i do think you should start anew as this one is long in the tooth.

My goal in olys is to run the 10K at my HM goal pace. Thus, while you are going pretty full out on the bike, it is not like a TT, you need to holdback a bit. My problem is i find neither HR nor RPE are good indicators of effort for me on the bike. I really should get a power meter but I am not ready to spend $2000 on a quark or power tap. Power is clearly the best way to guage effort on the bike because it is absolute, unlike HR or RPE which are more subjective. Edited by jsklarz 2011-04-08 12:11 PM |

No need to re-sign up. I'm just going to open for a few more people. I figure everyone who is already here is in so long as they want to continue. |

I agree with Rudy. I think we ought to move the group to the top and start new, so we don't have to dig through so many pages. |

Like I said before, obviously you're all "in." If you know of anyone who you think should join, let them know as well.

Going for a 10 mile run (lets see how the body and HR hold up) with my nephew riding with me!!! Gonna try to a 5k on Sunday, but purely for fun with my nephew (IF the weather holds up . . . rain/lightning)

Honestly think I pushed to hard trying to make up time for crashing. You live you learn right. Kelly I'd LOVE to come out to Martha's Vineyard. My wife would too. My parents just sold my grandparents' house in Falmouth due to the ungodly tax burden in Mass. However Cindy, the wife, is in a wedding in Italy this September soooo traveling costs are a little thin. Oh I think I may have roped my brother into triathlon. My brother and parents live in Miami and I received an email about Miami Man. I forwarded it over to my Dad and Brother. One said they're out but would provide room, board, and beer. The other seems awful interested. Yay. |

HR will likely be higher than normal because the body is adjusting to both running and cooling at the same time. I would suggest trying the split the difference. Try to keep your HR mid way between your "normal" cooler weather running HR for the pace and the HR your at when running in the warmer weather. Eventually your body should adjust and your HR will come down.

I trained all of my hours (and then some) that were on my training plan. Strained my knee a bit doing the hill repeats, so I'm not running again until Monday (have another 8-miler scheduled for that day though...LOL). Looking forward to getting in the open water in May.... |

I had a good swim, the water was calm and warm. the wind wasn't bad which is unusal for the west coast of florida. I didn't think to time myself but i put my watch on in the second transition so i was able to time my run, which I did in about just under 20 minutes.
