Man I enjoyed my ride today, stopped for a couple of pics along the way. They put in a new bridge for bikes and pedestrians across the Rio Grande so I detoured slightly to go check it out:

Looks beautiful!

Artist - 2011-04-11 9:20 PM 8.6 mile run tonight. By far farthest run. Sure helps to have running partners. Had to walk a few times but not very much and I ran every hill. Now I need to keep it up.

Great job!

Intervals on the trainer and a T-run this morning.  Massage this afternoon.

Tomorrow night Shaun and I are flying to Florida for a 4 day training camp.  Lots and lots and outdoor riding -- I will be sure to post pictures.

Also y'all might find this thread about biking with a ipod interesting:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=247491&start=1

Lots of widly varying opinions (although I agree with Jeff-y on this one biking with an ipod is not a good idea).

Thanks for the concern, but like I said in that thread, when riding solo (which is most of my rides) I wear my ipod with one ear bud in my right ear. My school of thought is if you aren't normally paying attention to your surroundings, music or talk radio in one ear won't help or hurt the situation any.

Now, two ear buds, yeah, that would be pushing it in my estimation for some.

I am like you-I wear one ear but in the ear away from traffic and keep the volume low. I hear everything. I also ride on some pretty low traffic areas. WHen I ride in higher traffic areas i pull the bud, but for long stretches of low volume road, I use my music and have had no problems

thats the most fun part of the day

Lauren is the only girl on the team, she orders the boys around while wearing her pink helmet:

Lauren, age 7, "I want to play first base... James you play 3rd"

James: "but I'm better at catching than you lauren"

Lauren: "I'm playing first base."

James "okay, I'll play 3rd"

Its going to be interesting when she is a teenager.

Very true, I'm sure if I were in high-traffic areas, my thoughts would be different. Plus we do have lots of bike lanes or wide shoulders (as big as a lane) in most areas. Heck it's not uncommon to on this one ride that is about 15 miles one way to only see maybe half a dozen vehicles some times.

What do you use to carry water on your longer runs? I haven't done them in a while so not sure best way to take some without feeling weighed down. I have a couple of camel backs that I use for hiking and Mt biking, but they seem heavy and awkward. So what does everyone use and what are the ups and downs you have found-

I don't run "long" like most on here, but I carry a bottle of Dasani with me on every run...it's my "security blanket" I guess. Just always have done it, so it goes with me, even on 2 mile runs.

I hate carrying water and would rather drop bottles but when I have to carry water I use this:

http://www.nathansports.com/our-products/hydrationnutrition/handhelds/quickdraw-elite

I like the little gel pockets.
