1500 in the pool  this morning which sucked. I felt like I was fighting the water the whole time. Coach said I just looked fatigued. I guess that is what I get for missing two swims ha.

Anyway, I followed that up by a ZR/Z1 run that was probably to hilly for what it was suppose to be but oh well. Tommorrow is a rest day on the schedule.

I got an invite to a team here in VA. The son of the Coach plays on my son's soccer team and I mentioned something about having to run a brick one game to his wife and well one thing led to another. They are having a duathlon tommorrow followed by a family picnic so I think I am going to take a look at the team and stuff. Kelly I know you were on a team and did benefit from it until recently. I have trained by myself for the longest time. Could it be beneficial to join? The Coach does timing as well so they have a lot of team only events as well as local events they put on. Anyone else that is on a "team" I would appreciate your input. It is only $65 a year then additional cost for one-on-one coaching and anything beyond free rides and runs. Thanks for any input.

P.S. I guess a good question would be what do you look for when looking for a team to join?

I LOVE being on a team.  There are the obvious advantages: discounts with sponsors, support at races, people to train with, etc.  I love that I've found people that "get" me.  Lets face it there aren't many outside of the endurance sports world that get what we do.

Things I didn't expect to get out of being in a tri club that I have would be things like life long friends.  I have more connections now in the local tri scene than before.  I get access to local used goods that I wouldn't have otherwise.  I had 50 or so people's brains to pick when I needed to find a bike fitter.  I could go on and on.  Our dues are the same as yours.  Gets us membership and a Tshirt, but I find that I "profit" much more than I pay in.  Of course my guess is that each tri club is different and each person has a different experience, for instance KeriKadi here on BT loathes my club.

Things I would look for would include people you click with.  People of the same ability level.  People of a higher ability level.  A group schedule that you can incorporate into your life at some level.  A group of folks that you don't mind being identified with.

uhcoog - 2012-06-28 9:21 AM Well we seriously need to have a mentor group get together at some IM or HIM in the future.  Maybe Rudy will break his long course retirement or something.

to meet everyone, sure,

to race...highly unlikely

but thanks for thinking of me!!!

Thanks Scott. Yea I am actually surprised that with membership this group gives you either a tri-top or a singlet. I like the Coach a lot so far, since I am not being coached by him haha :D I am hoping that this weekend I will be able to meet the other coach and some of the people. I am pretty outgoing so that shouldn't be a problem. They have early morning workouts which is when I mainly train so that is a big reason why I think I will join them. Plus they are near my work so I can just come straight to work afterwards.

I got my 800m TT time down from 14:12 to 13:56 (1:35/100 yds.).  I dug really deep, and I am so happy to have made the goal I set for myself.  Now I'm going to focus on 1:30/100.  To get much faster than that and I'd probably have to put in some serious time in the pool.

Boobs are overrated, they just get in the way! Ha!

It's supposed to be 104 this weekend. WTH! The 90's are bad enough. And air quality is supposed to be horrible too. Fabulous!

Rest day for me today.  Don't know how resting is possible in 100 degree heat.  I'm taking my 2 younger boys to the pool for the morning....will try to keep face out of the sun.

btw...I have always hated sweet cherries.  I think I've tried them twice before in my life.  Bought a bag at whole foods yesterday (along with blackberries, watermelon, and grapes). They are SO GOOD.  How did I not know this before?  My new favorite snack.

Long run this morning.  It's soooo humid here.  Feels like running in puddles.

So on my TV yesterday we went swim trials, mens gymnastics (2 guys from the gym my girls go to are competing), a brief respite to get the So You Think You Can Dance in from our DVR, and then Track and Field trials.  It's funny 4 years ago I was 230+ lbs and had really no interest in the Olympics other than casually.  This year I find them riveting.

Oh and Cindy said "Who needs Magic Mike when you have male swimmers and gymnasts to look at for free??"

Off day for me as well, going to the pool as well with the Fam. I am going to resist swimming while I am there but the hard part is every 45 mins they have 15 mins of adult swim time...very tempting not to do drills....Stay hydrated everyone! It's gonna be a doozy this weekend.
