Finished the 1/2 but injured my left knee.  at the 10k mark I was almost set for a 2:10 finish.  About mile 8 my knee hurt so bad I had to run/walk.  Still finished at 2:56 which sucks for me.  Also puts further training in trouble.

Hey all!
Home, knee is may be a little better.  I am soooooo pissed off about this I can't even see straight.  1/2 ruined, 1/2 ironman training in a couple of weeks in trouble.  AAAAAaaaahhhH!!!  I am so praying this is a muscle issue that will go away.  Even if I could just do the swim and bike of the 1/2 ironman than walk the run portion.  Heck I walked/loped from mile 8 to the end and still made less than 3 hrs.  I was sooooo on for around 2:10-2:15.  My 10k mark was 1:06.  Hot and slightly humid (I was trying to explain to one of the race officials that it wasn't very humid like he just stated, at least in the Baton Rouge sense of the word, but he didn't get it).

Okay one rule they need to add to those cheering.  When you see some guy in obvious pain, limping/loping, favoring one leg big time.  Please don't say "Your looking great, your almost there!".  LOL, I know they meant well but after 3 miles of intense leg pain, watching everyone pass you, and having another couple of miles to go, that is not what I needed.

Sorry for the whine!  Just glad I had a 2 week rest already planned or I would be losing it.

LRR - go! man! Go!!  Hope the back heals.  luckily mine did not bother me.  Good luck Bryan, you will rock!

Hi everyone.

For LRR, go Bryan! You are going to rock this thing!! DH doesn't even know you but he's very impressed. So am I. We'll be cheering for you.

Feel better Gary.

Hi Diane. Hope all is well.

Hi Pete and Maryanne.

Been off the site so long I forgot my log in. Sad huh? Anyway been out of the country for a while. Back now. Dealing with jet lag. Hope to stay put for a while.

Nothing much to report training-wise. Promised DH no races for a while. Still training, primarily to maintain a base and to relieve stress. Next race will probably be a half in the spring. Lots going on in my non-training life but this isn't really the place for that. So long story short...no time to post but I do think of you often. Especially you Bryan. Sent you an email, hope you get it.

Take care everyone. Feel better Gary. Take care of that knee.

Hey gang. Not much to report from the GWN (Great White North). In fact, iy is the Great Balmy North at the moment - daytime temps have been very pleasant and unseasonable warm of late.

Dealing with H1N1 in my household - son Chris and wife Jill both have it. I am unaffected so far. Chris was on the mend after 3 days. Jill is on day 4 and still in a bad way.

Excited that next week the olympic torch will be passing through Freddy Beach as it makes its tour through Canada en route to Vancouver/Whistler 2010. More than 1000 communities being visited over 100+ days and every possible means of conveyance from runners to dog teams to canoes to horseback. Very cool. Would've loved to be selected to carry it but will have to settle for being a cheering spectator. Check out:

http://www.vancouver2010.com/olympic-torch-relay/

On that positive note, let me end by sending good vibes to our mentor the B-man for his great adventure this weekend. The LRR gang will all be there with you every stroke/pedal/step of the way, not weighing you down but lifting you up and pushing you forward. Go Go Go !!!!

Go LRR!!!

Hey WAEF!

Has anyone done a IM relay or an IM Aquabike?  With my knees I doubt I will every do a full IM and Aprils HIM may be my last.  So my options for a IM are relay, aquabike, or simply a full IM with me quiting after the bike.  Vineman has a Aquabike but haven't seen any others.  Question for those doing IM relay was how did you find a relay team?  FWIW I am looking at this for 2011.

OMG Gary, are you going to Vineman? ALL of my Tri friends here in Vegas are going, and are wanting me to go too... that would be AWESOME if we both went!

Hey WAEF, we miss you!

Bryan - it's almost here

Pete - cheering on the Olympic Torch has got to be exciting! Take lots of pictures!

Well, I had shin pain again last night in the first mile on the TM... I'm soooooo frustrated!!! I'm gonna see yet another ART Doctor this afternoon... I don't understand why my custom orthotics aren't preventing this issue... there HAS to be answers - do you think that after 2 years of running, the answer could STILL be too much too soon? Is that an answer for shin pain?  I've done PT, ART, rest, orthotics... any other suggestions are welcome!

Diane -  Not sure about Vineman.  Would probably look for something a little closer to home.  Hopefully more races will announce Aquabike options for IM's.  From my initial search it seemed like Vineman was the only full with that option.  Never know, family may want to vacation out there.  The other option is a relay and if I could find someone to do the run I would do the swim and bike.

Hey all!!!!
I have been training hard. I ran 2 5K 's last wekend, came in 6th in one and first in another I finally feel as if my training is paying off! Pete I am hoping to run Boston for the Crohns and colitis foundation

Its good to see everyone posting!

Ive been texting Bryan...he's ready!!!!

I've also been in touch with Dan. His son was involved in an accident and was seriously injured. He's stable today, but prayers are in need.

Gary I have done an IM and HIM relay. Tons of fun!!!! We posted on BT in tri talk looking for a runner and a guy came from Florida! We had a blast. I did Mooseman HIM as a relay this spring as training for my individual HIM. Again a real blast. Our runner was aquagirl from Canada...she came to NH for the race. Checkout the race forum or your state forum ypu should be able to find someone. I am doing IMAZ next year and I plan on finding an aquabike to do as training I might be able to help you find a team once you decide what you want to do.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving

Go LRR!!!

Hey all, one quick note if you haven't seen it (I didn't until I saw a thread on it).  BT is offering a discount on membership renewals.  Just enter code november2009.  Ended up going with the one year (plus 2 free months) for $35.  I use this site a lot and figure $35 and I get to hang out with this group.  Not a bad deal at all.

WAY TO GO B-MAN !!!!

I was out for a short yesterday afternoon and I realized that at that same moment you were racing in AZ. A big smile came across my face as I thought about you and I swear it caused me to pick up the pace just a bit.

I am proud of you my IRONMENTOR !!!!
