Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Lots of over eating, couch surfing, and football watching going on around here. I like to callit anti-training.

Hey all!

Last of the guests have left.  Not everyone showed up but a fun time with a full house.  We fried one turkey and used the Ronco Rotisserie for the other.  Used the same marinade on both and both came out juicy and delicious but with slightly different flavors.  Even the day old left overs were great but alas they are all gone.  Managed a run on TG and a ride yesterday.  The ladies did the black friday shopping thing but BIL and I skipped it and just ordered some running boards for my truck online and watched LSU just barely beat Arkansas.  DS had to go to the high school football game as part of marching band, away game and got back at 2am (to the school).  We are both running a little short of sleep right now.

We did go see Rise of the Guardians which was cute but glad we only paid matinee prices.  We rented Arthur Christmas and that was better.

Hey all!

Well I headed back to the pool today for the first time in a couple of weeks.  Amazingly I still remember how to swim.  An easy 1000 yards today and hoping to ride tonight on the trainer.  Turned cold and wet today and it looks like winter has officially arrived in Louisiana.    The new pup spend the night at the Vet school and got neutered.  He is back and is a happy to be home.  He has to where the neck collar (cone) for a few days which is going to be a PITA

Hey all ... been a busy week over this way.  Spin classes Monday and Thursday nights and a swim fit class on Tuesday.  The swim fit class is brutal ... it's an hour session with ~1/2 swim and the other half a combo of squats, pushups, planks, burpees, et al.

2 DD's families got in last night and I did a nice 31m ride today with the 2 SIL's.  Beautiful weather here ... sunny 60's - perfect day for a nice ride.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

On Saturday I took the kids and a couple of the dogs to get a picture with Santa for our Christmas cards.  It came out great, if you get a chance to check out my FB page you can see the picture.  Also finally (after 5 years) I put on running boards for my truck.  Definitely dresses up the truck and should make it easier for some of my relatives to get in/out of the truck.

Ran 6.4 last night around the LSU lakes then came home and made manicotti with Vodka pasta sauce, absolutely delicious!  Ride planned for tonight and DW comes home tomorrow.

Later all!

Hey all!

Been hard to get back to the pool with work being crazy.  Skipped my run last night with a cold miserable rain, late night conference call, and DW returning from a business trip.  Will run tonight.  Getting a bit excited about registering for races next year.

Hey all ... got in a nice, easy paced 30m endurance ride today.  The focus was on holding the HR to not exceed zone 2.  I did pop out a couple of times on some sharper climbs, but mostly held it to within the range.  I seem to have hit the wall speed and endurance wise, and with not putting in the saddle time like last year you quickly lose it when the training suffers.

So I'm sort of starting back with the fundamentals to build the base and work from there.  Hope all had a nice weekend.

Oh and I signed for my 1st race of 2013 ...

Hey Dorm!

Been mainly running and riding and need to get back to the pool. Ran 10k tonight and tried to ride yesterday but after 15 mins had to shut it down due to kids need to be transported to their events.  Oh well, still in a bit of a fun mode for workouts and got a 10k in tonight.

Take care all and hope to hear from everyone soon.

Just mentally committed to my race schedule for this year. Hoping it is not too aggressive. Adding my first OLY and first Half Mary, but I think the spacing is good. I guess this counts as my NY's resolution. I still need to clear this with the boss who is in Miami playing with GK's.

Looking at my logs:

2011: Bike-164 miles; Run-162 miles; Swim 11000 yds.; Other activity 55 hours

2012: Bike-260 miles; Run-250 miles; Swim 22000 yds; Other Activity 115 hours

2013: ? Keep climbing.

Thanks BT, with out this sight and the encouragement from the group, I may still be on the couch. xoxo(not too mushy though).

David, nice setup and I am jealous that you have your schedule for 2013 already!  Sounds like 2013 will be a good year for you.

Made it back to the pool the other day and rode tonight.  Between work and the Skeeter run work I am just about maxed out.

Hey everyone,

So I finally got my bike on Friday, Felt F85..got a pretty great deal on it I think..Got it home and set it all up, and hit the road..being my first time on a road bike, it felt a bit squirrelly..after I got out of my apartment complex(which was a process...I couldn't trigger the gates..lol) I hit up River road(runs right along the Mississippi River)..I was planning on doing an 8-10 mile or so ride, a little out and back loop I had planned out..that was until I took a wrong turn..ended up on a loop that was going to be an additional 10 miles..figured, what the hell..ended up riding a little under 20miles on my first ride out. Bike handling got better..only almost died once, ok maybe twice.

When I got home, my legs felt great..even went after work that night and hit the weights with a buddy of mine(this was a mistake).

Late sunday night/monday morning, I came down with something nasty..fever over 102 for a while..finally broke fever yesterday morning..feeling a little better.

Can't wait to get back on the bike and really start structuring a workout regimen.

Devon - bummer about the flu!  Get well quick.  We need to figure out a time to ride together.  I live off Bayou Paul and ride that area a lot.

My duties as the chair for the Louisiana Skeeter run are heating up and keeping me busy.  If you are interested check out LouisianaSkeeterRun.org(Devon you are expected to run this!  J/K would love to have you).

Still waiting for races to open up to get my 2013 schedule going.

Later!

Fever has gone away, stomach is still having problems..

Definitely will be running the SkeeterRun, will try and go down to HR at work a little closer to race day and put a word in to try and get more people signed up. They are doing a huge fitness challenge and could probably get a lot of people involved. Might even warrant the company to throw some sponsorship money that way.

We definitely need to get together and ride Gary, would be nice to have someone telling me how much I'm screwing up :P

Work is just nuts, amazing that December is our busiest month.  No workouts today but got a good 5k run in last night.

Neal - Welcome!!!!

As an FYI, after doing a few HIM's 2012 was supposed to be a short course for me but ended up doing 2 HIM's.  But 2013 is about short course with mainly sprints and one Oly.

Brett's - 2012-12-16 8:55 PM I am 28 yrs old and have been married for 6 yrs now; we have 3 wonderful children all under the age of 5. I am a warehouse manager at a local supply house and work a lot of hours which leaves little time for training but I run on lunch breaks and on the weekend I try to run a long run. I will have a new bike in about 2 weeks and will add that into my weekly plan starting in January. I got the itch to do a tri after I watched the Kona World Championship in October. I have engrossed myself into the lifestyle of a triathlete completely. I aim to complete 3 races next year, money allowing! I will sign up for my first race in January, which will be held here in Alabama in May. I am here for guidance, tips, and everything tri! Maybe I will see some of you next year out on the course.

Brett - Welcome!!!

Okay folks, as you can see we are reopening the group and we have a few new members and will have more soon.  I know everyone is on their off season but its time to start thinking about 2013 and what your training is like.  While I have a general idea I will start working on my plan this weekend.

Managed 5 miles on Sunday and a quick trainer ride with intervals last night.  Unfortunately I am fighting off a cold and hope it doesn't get worse.

I came home from work sick today and am hoping and praying it is not the flu. We are headed to NC this weekend and really don't want to travel sick. I am hoping to get on the amend and get a good 9 or 10 mile run in if I am feeling better. I have a long way to go and a short time to get there if I want to complete an Olympic tri in may. Does anyone have any suggestions? I will have a new bike and will start riding in about a week. Hopefully I will be able to get my wetsuit and maybe be able to start swimming more in March.

Brett, I am fighting off a cold also.  Really don't want to have one during the holidays.  As for Oly's have you looked at the BT plans for Oly's?  For the one I have in OCt I am going to combine the BT custom plan with the input from the book Time-crunched Triathlete.  Book is mainly aimed at Sprints but does have an Oly plan but the concept of Quality over quantity has struck a bell with me.

Add me to the list of sick people.  I am really struggling with a head cold/flu.  I really wanted to get out and get some running in this week, but I have done a good job of forcing myself to rest.  Sucks.
