Looks like we have one in and one still scheduled to do his laps yet.  Should have everyone in but CA...  who had to pull out with an injury with the Eifel Tower in sight!

Finished up on the Champs with an easy ride this afternoon. Had to fit it in between rain storms (and shake off a mild hangover, I guess I'm not in college anymore lol) but I got it done!

FANTASTIC job team! We really kicked butt in this challenge! I'm so impressed with everyone.

Sorry to hear about your back Cagoldigger, but even the 97% is great!

chrisrunsz, I haven't seen any challenges yet, but I would check back in a few days to see if there are any starting up for August. I'll be looking to do another one as well with my HIM coming up in September, so maybe we'll be teamates again!

I really need some running in Aug again with some motivation to get in the pool (can you fake a 1000m pool swim in an OLY????)

Oh no! The Tour de France is over. What are we going to do now?

Well, we're gonna have a one week challenge. This will get us through July, at least.

You can set goals in ONE to FOUR activities: Swim, bike, run and/or other.
If you fall behind in one goal, you can make it up in another. (Ex: 0% Swim + 200% Run is still 100% Overall)

At the end of the week, the WINNERS will be determined by:
a) The overall average in each category. (Ie: Swim average, Run average, etc.)
b) Individual totals. (Ie: the person with the highest completion average)

To participate, check out the Post-TdF One Week Challenge thread!

By now we can assume that all riders have entered their challenge totals in their team spreadsheets. So, the final results of the TdF challenge are.....(insert drum roll here)....

First place is a tie between Garmin and Liquigas! Garmin came in at 99.66% with 6 riders reaching 100%. Liquigas came in at 99.36% with 5 riders reaching 100%.

Second place goes to Quickstep who reached 91.19% with 4 riders at 100%.

Third place goes to BMS with 88.65% and 3 riders reaching 100%.

Fourth place goes to Leopard Trek with 69.15% and 2 riders reaching 100%.

Fifth place goes to Sky with 65.60% and 2 riders reaching 100%.

In the unofficial post-count challenge, Garmin and Liquigas tie again for first as both had 11 pages of posts in their team thread. Quickstep had 7, BMC had 6, Sky had 4, and Leopard Trek had 3. It seems like the key to this challenge is team communication. The more your teammates talked to each other the more likely the team was to get everyone to their goals.

Kat is AWOL. I sent her a message 3 days ago about the final results and she has not answered. That is not like her. I hope she is just busy.

This Garmin team was the best team I have had for the TdF challenge. My thanks to all of you who made July a fun month of training.

Well, I haven't been on or posted on the site for the last few days. I've been too pi$$ed off and disappointed.

Last week I started having severe upper back spasms. Enough to drop me to my knees. I ended up going to the ER and they found that I have an upper spinal sprain. How that happened, I don't know. I went to my primary physician (also a sports doc.) and had it double checked. Yep, same diagnosis plus he found that my pelvis on the left side is all tweaked out. Solution, lots of physical therapy and no Tri's (my tri was 2 weeks away) till her say so. No running (walking ok), no biking, or swimming.

I'm going freakin nuts!!!! My wife is going to collect the life insurance policy on me any day, I can feel it. Anyway, needed to vent and hope I might have time enough for some kind of event before the seasons over.

Great job everyone! Oh, we all know we are the #1 Team!

The top of my training blog says "over doing it is my middle name" because I have gone through similar experiences. You ramped up to daily workouts pretty quickly, which may have led to your condition. I messed up my hips from over training last year to the point that I could not easily get out of a chair. I took time off to let it heal but early into my next training season I messed up by back because my hips were still not right.

Once you figure out what the problem is you can work to minimize it. I try to stretch my hip flexors after every run and every ride over 20 miles. It has helped so far.

The worst thing you can do is get too discouraged. You accomplished a lot this month and while your back may not be happy with you I am sure your cardiovascular system is happy you did it.
