Well, I managed to get in 90 minutes in central park on Saturday. My flight to FLL was delayed so I didn't get home till 3 AM today, which put a damper on my training.

Hoping to ride or run a little later, but I also want to let my legs get "rested" as they are still quite sore. Mostly the back of my knees are tight, so I plan on working on that.

2 weeks till IM NY/NJ. Getting excited and nervous.

2 weeks!! eeek! I'm 15 out till IMFL and I'm nervous! But I read what you said a few weeks back, that you finally feel like an Ironman. Something clicked for me after a big wknd (90 mi ride, 1.5 mi OWS race, 16 mi run) and then an Oly distance tri (15 min PR) the following wknd...I feel so much better about everything now and my excitment for the race is almost outweighing my fears. It's a great feeling!!!

Hope everyone is doing well with their training!!

If you are already doing big weekends like that, you will be FINE by the time IM FL rolls around!

Wheeeeeeeeeee

I am starting to pack for my trip to NY. Going up a week early to see family and friends. I may get to ride part of the rouce on Saturday, which excites and scares me!!!

Supposed to bike today, but it didn't happen. Running with a friend later and then maybe bike tmrw and Thursday...clean the bike for packing and then off I go.

Is this group still Open? I'd love join if it is.

I'm new to Tri's and just recently finished my first (I was disappointed with my finish time but hooked on it ) but have done runs throughout the years and biking. Swimming is relatively new to me, but has become my new favorite sport and possibly my strongest sport. My primary sports background has been strength training. I'm signed up for another Tri in mid Sept and training 5-6 days a week.

My wife is getting into running and will be doing her first 10k in sept and my children will be doing their first Duathlons at the same event! I also lead an annual "fit challenge" locally with a group for weight loss and getting fit.

good luck everyone on your upcoming events!

Joseph

Joseph,

Sorry I missed your post. I have been traveling this week. You are welcome to join us if you want.

Glad to hear you caught the bug. I know that in the past 4 years, triathlon has become a big part of my life. I have found it rewarding, and have roped my family into joining at a number of events.

The nice thing about being disappointed in results....it makes you want to do better next time.

OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG....I am feeling pretty good about this race. Last two weeks weren't as great as I would have liked, but, it is what it is.

Been here in NYC since Saturday last week and am just about to switch from "family visit" to "race prep" mentality.

Hey All!

How is it going. I am awake, and fairly mobile after the IM this weekend. I am going to write up my report later today, but wanted to drop in and say hey!

Overall, race was great. I PR'ed with a 12:11 and had a decent run in tough conditions. Trying to plan for the rest of the year and debating if I will do another next year.

Anyone else have a good training weekend?

Hey All,

So, here is the link to my race report:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=455664

Also, a friend of mine captured video online of me crossing the finish line-

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=483096788368661

What an amazing day. I think this course was tougher than the previous 2 I did, and the logistics were a bit more difficult. I had a great experience there, and had wonderful volunteer support and decent crowds towards the end.

I have seen a lot of complaints about the race and have to say that it met or exceeded my expectations in most ways. There is room for improvement, but I thought it compared favorably with IM Cozumel and the Great Floridian. I think this was a tough one for spectators though.

Post race, I was sore Sunday, Monday and today am feeling better. I will most likely spin on the bike and swim later this week and maybe a short run or two this weekend.

So, what about you all?

Is there such a thing as Triathlete Anonymous?

Last night, with no alcohol involved, my wife and I booked a little vacation for Thanksgiving....to Cozumel, where I will be running the IRONMAN.

I seriously think either my wife or I, or both, have a problem.

A good friend is racing, so it was hard to pass up the chance to play. Plus, we needed a vacation. And, it will end up being cheaper than the race in NY was.

So, I guess it is time to start training again!

First workout since the IM. Rode on a trainer and then 2 mile run.

Felt good. Getting excited to target a new PR at my next few races.

Hey Everyone,

So, how goes it?

I am getting back in the swing of things. Another week till I will either restart my 12 week program for IM Cozumel, or perhaps use a plan onf my own invention.

Ran 9 miles this morning. Damn, it is hot here. Did about 3 miles of tempo work during the run. Felt good, but by the end I was a little overheated. Better to have it happen in training than at the race.

Anything fun going on this weekend?

So, since I am "starting over" and have an Olympic in sept., I have been putting some speed work into my plan.

Ouch. My legs are sore already.

My training has come to a screatching halt. I've developed some major issues in my knees and have been told by my doc to cease all exercising!?!?!? I have snuck some cycling in here and there but I just havent been able to train regularly because of it. It's so disappointing and irritating. I know it could be worse but giving up the rest of the season isn't what i wanted to do.

Hopefully through the physical therapy things will be better by T-giving and I'll be back on my regular winter training and cycling again on the warmer days. Runnin may be a thing of the past, we'll have to see how things heal up.

Good luck everyone with your Tri's!!

What is up with your knees? Short of major arthritis, I can't imagine what would keep you from doing non-weight bearing exercise?

Hey All,

So, just about to get serious about my training again!

Legs are sore from doing some hard intervals over the last week, but feels good to be sore in a new way.

I know many of you have had some challenges over the course of the season. As things wind down, any thoughts about what you would do different, or what you learned from the challenges of this season?
