My workouts recently have been moving boxes! I am mostly moved into my new place now but my workout schedule has been thrown way off. I need to completely re-think it. My big problem is I am now really far away from my CF gym, I don't know if I can keep going to it This makes me very very sad. I also don't have any of my equipment so I can't do much at home just yet either. Also don't have internet set up which is a huge pain, I use that for all my rout planning and such for running and riding! Eck, I need to get things figured out fast!

Hey Grandy.  My advice is this:  You are a machine.  This is easy.  Take this time to work on your run speed.  I bet you packed your legs and your sneaks.  Get out there hammer whatever a short distance is for you and then smoke some pushups and air squats.

Oh, and please look at my recent post in the tri talk forum and give me some advice!

Just went to see your other thread but looks like others have already given you some good advice, I would say pretty much the exact same as what Newbz had posted. I also advocate intervals and tempo work for any fitness level, I don't think you need a big base to get great benefit from those types of workouts.

Part of my problem with my move is motivation. I had a nice schedule worked out, I had to wake up at a certain time to get to my gym to do the morning workout class and such. Now my time is much less structured, plus I have a lot of unpacking to do so I'm just having trouble getting motivated and setting a time block aside for working out. It's certainly doable, and pretty easy to do for that matter, but I still have to actually get my butt up and do it!!!

The other thing is my main training goal right now is actually the CrossFit Games on July 5th and 6th, and my biggest weakness that I need to work on is overall strength, which is harder to do without any equipment. I could work on my running, but running is actually probably my strongest area and realistically needs the least amount of work. I only have a few days left of quality training that I can get in for the CF Games so I need to get doing something!

Once I finish CF Games then my focus is going back to Triathlon though, have 2 races in July!

I did get a quick workout in this morning, just did some tabata intervals in my living room. Did push-ups, sit-ups and squats, all back to back to back, 8 rounds each. Supposed to go swimming this evening but will have to see if I can actually make it.

Hey, what do you guys use for a recovery drink?  I've always used whey protein or something like Met-Rx and Myoplex.  After reading some literature everything seems to be point to 3:1 carb to protein mixes rather than just a crapload of protein.  Since you guys do lift rather than just the cardio disciplines I wonder what you use.  Also, are there any other important supplements I should consider?  Based on what I've read I think I am going to switch to Recoverite from Hammer Nurtrition.  3:1 carbs to protein, glutamine, and anti-oxidants.  Plus, their products seem to be very well thought out.

I actually only really use recovery drinks after really long endurance workouts. I don't take anything after CrossFit or other shorter high intensity workouts. I haven't really tried doing a comparison of how I feel with or without, I just in general am trying not to consume as many calories. I don't think your body needs an excess of protein right after a workout, muscle building is something that goes on throughout the day and night, not just right after your workout, it seems to make sense to just keep an even level of protein in your body at all times. As for the carbs, the idea is you replenish your glycogen stores, but with short intense workout I don't think you are completely draining your glycogen stores down to nothing so I'm not really sure that you need to do anything special beyond standard meals to get them back up. With long hard endurance workouts you do drain them all the way down so it makes sense to me to give it that extra nudge to get them refueled faster. I'm not really a nutrition expert but this seems to make sense to me.

OK peeps!  I'M BAAAAACK!!!

Today I started with an easy scaled down run Tabata.  Only 8% incline and a 7:30 pace.  Gotta ramp back up.   Tonight, I'm gonna do "Lynne", which is yesterday's WOD, but since today's a rest day on the site, I might as well do it.

Feels good to be back!

Wow, I'm humbled.

First off, I did Tabatas as my "comeback workout" the other day.  Only ran at 7:30 pace instead of my usual 6:50 and only 8% incline instead of 10% and it kicked my butt!!  I was actually not feeling well after I finished it.  Tabatas are usually easy.

Then last night I did "Lynne".   Again...humbled.  Only 52 bench presses at bodyweight (145lbs) and only 55 pullups.  Normally I'm in the 60's for presses and somewhere around 75 to 80 on the pullups.

Lastly, I think I actually pulled something in my arm doing the pullups yesterday cuz this morning on my shoulder presses I couldn't extend my arms to press 125lbs, a weight I normally have no problem with.  I had to settle at 105 for a max.  And on the push presses and push jerks, I couldn't go higher than 65lbs!!!  I feel like a newbie!!

This just gives me plenty of stuff to work towards.  I hope we don't have a Linda any time soon or I'm gonna find myself dead in a puddle of sweat.

Great work everyone else, though.  I think I've lost my "King of CrossFit" title...at least for a while.

It's a neighborhood Anytime Fitness, so no gym attendants, just key fobs issued to each member. For some reason everybody's key fob wouldn't work, the sensor wouldn't unlock the door, so we all had to turn around and go home after giving the 800 number a call.

Hey I go to Anytime Fitness now too!!  My key fob wouldn't work the day I got it.  Sucked!   But they got it fixed.  Good, this means that when I come back out for IMAZ in November, we might actually get some time to CF together!!

OK, so...today's WOD...
5 rounds for time of
15 deadlifts
12 hang power cleans
9 front squats
6 push jerks
Supposed to be all with 135 pounds.  Lord know I can't clean OR jerk 135.  I can DL it and squat it, but with my arm/elbow strained the way it is, I do NOT want an injury.  So...I did the entire workout with 65 pounds.

It took me about 13 minutes (forgot my watch, had to use gym clock), and even with the reduced weight, it wiped the floor with me!!  So I'm not unhappy with this workout at all!!

Lemme tell ya, even with only 65 pounds, the last 15 deadlifts were HARD!!!!

Anytime Fitness has been alright, but lacks some of the equipment that would make Crossfitt'ing a bit easier (i.e. squat stands or power rack).

Yesterday's workout was a shoulder hell, 5x1 Shoulder Press/5x3 Push Press/5x5 Jerk...so with each set I have to load a bar on the curl rack then clean it prior to the rep. So overall, I've done all the shoulder work plus 15 reps of cleans...kinda frustrating! Also, all heavy squats must be done on the Smith Machine...urghh.

I'll def be up for some CrossFit action...

CFE WOD done! Wow, I really underestimated this one. I started at a 8:10/mi pace then a 1/2 mile in adjusted back big time. It took over 23mins to complete 2.4 miles but wow did it hurt...and if you hadn't noticed my keyboard spacebar is acting up.
