LOL Wetsuit 'strippers' are pretty standard for most Ironmans...some day I'll do an IM and get to take advantage of the strippers...(that didn't sound right...)... LOL taking advantage of strippers!!! yeah, too bad they don't do that at sprints. |

Master 2201 Elgin, | Subject: RE: August Challenge (Run,Swim,Bike, Weightloss, and/or Other) - CASUAL Ran my PFT today. The run course is supposed to be 3 miles and is allowed a variance of .2 miles on either side. Our course here is 2.8 (which is on the short side), but I ran it in 19:12. Which is a good time, but with the altitude adjustment is becomes a great time, since that becomes a 100 points out of 100 points. My overall score was 250 points out of 300 points. That is my highest and I am riding on cloud nine now. I am very happy with it. |

Master 1817 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: August Challenge (Run,Swim,Bike, Weightloss, and/or Other) - CASUAL Got on the bike for a nice 20 mile ride today and got to experience my first 0 mph bike crash. I was coming off a trail onto the road and had to wait for some traffic to pass. I upclipped and put down my right foot the proceeded to list to the left. I didn't even have time to try and unclip my left foot. I fell ungracefully to the gound in a tangle of bike and limbs. Banged up my left hand a bit - should get some pretty colors out of it in a day or two! |

Elite 3494 Renton, Washington | Subject: RE: August Challenge (Run,Swim,Bike, Weightloss, and/or Other) - CASUAL Would you all like to see where I swim and my brand spanking new running shoes!?
Okay. hehehehe. Sounds like everyone is gettin r' done! HAHAHA I got r' done too. Although it was a short run, the toe is still pissed off at me. I really am dying for longer run weekends to start, not that they ever had but that was my plan this month. I think I would benefit more from running maybe every other day, Tuesday, Thursday and then a long run Sunday. Ok enough blabbing. Oh I am planning on biking home from work on Friday! I desperately need some T.I.T.S!!
This is Seward Park. This is where probably a lot of triathletes swim. If you count the boats from the left, just the close ones, when you get to 4 and 5, inbetween them is the buoy I swim to the most. Round trip is 1/4 mile. I love it when it's this calm!!! There are a couple of swimmers in the pic, but it's a bit small. Okay I'll shut up now. Sorry.
Ma brand spanking new sneakers. Or trainers as we call them where I'm from

Master 2665 The Whites, New Hampshire | Subject: RE: August Challenge (Run,Swim,Bike, Weightloss, and/or Other) - CASUAL Congrats to everyone getting out there! Gotta say, heat is one thing we are NOT dealing with. Spring-level flooding, yes. Dude, we had one of the snowiest winters EVER, and it didn't flood this much in the spring. Now, in August, everything is washing away, with flash flood warnings everywhere. Bad, bad news. It is cold, too, and overcast. I found out that I love running in the good solid rain (not mist, that's just icky), but with my legs still all f'ed up from poison ivy, there's no running at all for me. I WILL get back on track, though. I allotted myself 12 sessions, and by God, I'm going to get them. They won't be as long or as intense, but I WILL get back out there. Just as soon as I can stand to sweat again, and my wounds can handle the jiggling. Any thoughts on running a 5K in this condition? I haven't run one whit in two weeks, and before that was sporadic due to moving. I feel I still have enough of a base to at least finish the 5K, and likely run the whole thing. But it will be utter hell, between the sweat and pounding the open sores. I can't decide if this is an HTFU moment or an are-you-stupid moment. I have until Friday to decide. Well, technically Saturday morning, but if I'm gonna drive there, I'm gonna run it, and I'd have to drive down on Friday. I'm thinking I might go for a job Friday morning and use that to decide. If I can break a sweat and not scream, I'll run the 5K. If I scream, no 5K. Sound like a good test? |

Master 1792 | Subject: RE: August Challenge (Run,Swim,Bike, Weightloss, and/or Other) - CASUAL wgraves7582 - 2008-08-07 9:43 AM Nice, which model is that - My wife needs a new pair and we love Saucony. Grid Tangent 3 I think if you click on the pic of the shoe, it'll take you to the website. I tried on a ton of shoes, and ran back and forth in the store for an hour. It's weird how your foot can totally pick out a shoe for you. I thought I had my heart set on a pair of Brooks. They just weren't as comfortable on my foot. It was a fun time. I'd highly recommend going to a running store and getting a professional to help out. |

I've been riding clipless pedals for 5 years, and I still fell over stopping on my driveway early this season (my driveway goes uphill). Sometimes we're not concentrating on what we're doing at the moment when it's time to clip out. I was thinking about how much the garage needed cleaning... |

Sounds like you have a good plan. If it's gonna be too painful, I wouldn't do it. At least here, it seems like you can find a 5K almost anytime of the year, even in February. If it were an IM, ooh...that'd be tough for me... Go pick up the T-shirt and goodies, though if you get the chance. You paid for it. |
