My goals are coming along well.  I will have another 2500 yards of swimming in this week and should make my run goal.  I do have to say that without this, I may have blown off some of my swimming so this helped me stay on track.

Artemis - 2009-05-25 10:05 AM

surfnturf - 2009-05-23 10:29 AM I had a sprint tri scheduled for tomorrow but we have had so much rain in our area that the race has been rescheduled for June. I guess I will just workout as usual since I took it easy earlier this week.

That's really depressing!  Usually they turn my races into duathlons when there is too much rain.  Not sure which I'd rather have - rescheduled or not a tri.

I think they considered making it a duathlon but the roads were flooded so there was nowhere to bike or run and the ocean was pretty rough. As it turned out, I was up all night the night before the scheduled tri b/c my 5yr old got a tummy bug and was throwing up all night so I guess it all worked out for the best. Messed up my workouts and goals for May but I'll get as close as I can!

I am needing a serious kick in the butt.  I should be starting to taper back for a race and instead I am falling out of training.  Normally this should be a recovery week for me, and the body is saying I need it but, I have had no motivation to train the last few days.  I did go for a 3 mile walk, pushing my daughter on monday that isn't logged, and I was running around coaching yesterday, but no real training.  No real point to this post other to vent my frustration at myself

Suck it up, Buttercup!!

Seriously, try to do something for at least 15 minutes today.  If you can make it through 15 - 20 minutes, you can finish up a 3 mile run.

Not doing so great on my May goals. I had a few setbacks with sick kids and long hours at work so I am going to come up short. Oh well, at least I met my personal goal of spending more one-on-one time with family - that was easy once I made it a goal.

Bike......... 150.......... 108.45..... 72.30%
Run.......... 50............ 33.11....... 66.22%
Swim........ 15000....... 7300........ 48.67%
Strength... 240.......... 105.......... 43.75%

Personal more 1on1 with family....... 100%

How is everyone else doing?

Jen thanks for the butt kicking.  I am back on my training, just going a bit lower volume this week, changes my training plan a little but it should work.  Good news is that I shaved 5 minutes off of one of my normal training rides.  dropped from 54 minutes to 49 minutes on that training loop.  Another good thing is that I have surpassed my distance goals for the the month in all three disciplines. 1 1/2 weeks until my first tri.  Getting excited.

Unfortunately, I came up short but that just means that I need to work harder to stay on track. I definitely fulfilled my personal goal of making more time for my family and everyone seems happier b/c of it so if that means I miss some other goals...it is worth it for me.

Here's how I did this month.  I came up short on my running.  Just didn't come back as easy as I was hoping.

 GoalActual% Done
Bike100 miles125.6 miles125.6%
Run40 miles36.6 miles91.5%
Strength/PT 1010100%

Overall  97.2%

The overall percentage doesn't include going over because that skewed the percentages to be over 100% and I didn't get that far.

On a personal note, I finished knitting my socks.

Glad you are back at it.  There are weeks where I can't seem to do much, so I try to do a little of anything.  It happens. The important thing is coming back to it.

Your first tri is almost here!!  That's so exciting!  Do you think you're ready for it?

Hi All-

So I dropped off the radar for quite a while, sorry guys. I'm jumping back in today. I've just been catching up on the recent posts; you all did an

***AWESOME JOB***

in May. Congrats to everybody on all the hard work you put in. Sounds like you had some interesting races, too.

For myself, I obviously met no goals whatsoever, but June is another month. I have a lot of trouble making fitness a priority; I don't usually think about working out, and then decide not to do it. Instead, I forget completely, and realize three weeks later that I haven't been to the gym or on the trails in ages. I've signed up a membership here, so at the very least the occasional newsletters will be a reminder.

Here's to beginning again . . . again!

I'm glad you're back.

Do you have any goals for June?  Maybe you could try x workouts per week as a place to start.  Once you're in the habit again, worry about distance.

Thanks! :)

I'm going to try the running challenge this month. I did pretty well with the Superhero challenge in April, and it was nice to have a specific goal. So thinking in terms of half hour sessions, I'll go with 15 for this month. That keeps it at a fairly obtainable three per week, and should help me meet my running goal and get in some strength workouts, too. Plus maybe a couple of hiking days for fun Cool.

Don't know if there's another 'mentee' challenge this month, but it's nice to have some accountability. So, for there record, here are my June goals:

Training:
Sessions - minimum of 15
Running - 250 minutes

Personal:
Read 2 'classic' books

My numbers for may
May's totals:
Bike:11h 35m 40s  - 212.75 Mi
Run:9h 46m 14s  - 55.72 Mi
Swim:3h 41m  - 7700 Yd

My run and bike were both well over my goal, swimming I hit it.  We won't talk about the strength training.

Also learned the hard way that my bike tires don't have a traditional stem, like I had on my walmart bikes.  Went to the LBS and got a nice pump, and while there my wife decided she did want a bike, so we got her a nice comfort bike.  Ended up being an expensive trip just for a bike pump, but she is excited about her new bike and couldn't believe how much nicer it was to ride a quality bike over the walmart specials.

m55morris - 2009-05-12 6:39 PM It was an awesome ride except for passing the 5 day dead raccoon beside the road.  The nice thing is I learned how to dry heave while still riding.

I think about this everytime I pass road kill!  I always tend to to take a big breath when I first see it and hold it as long as possible past it.

On another stinky note, Sunday we passed two baby skunks foraging along the sign of the road.  Could have been really bad.

I  tried that, unfortunately the end was behind me, and I was on a steep uphill at the time.  It is pretty funny to think about, trying to pedal as fast as I can, but not being able to go anywhere.
