iowagander - 2009-11-25 1:13 AM Evening Ghoulies. Unfortunately I had a rather craptacular day mostly due to receiving "an email" from my son's teacher first thing this morning. Apparently there have been two MAJOR projects he hadn't even started that are both late and that he had neglected to even tell us about at home. Needless to say we had some words when I got home. Now it's time to start some homework uber-micromanaging. Can't wait...

Unfortunately, leaving work early in order to catch his teacher (for another really pleasant conversation) meant I missed out on my 3.5 miler today. I've got a 35 minute tempo run tomorrow though, and if things at work go well I may be able to sneak it in before I get in a bonus workout with one of our officer applicants. She's nervous about the running and exercises she'll be doing at OCS and it's my privilege to work with folks like her to get them ready to go. I really do enjoy these workouts because they're some of my best ST sessions (because I get to be just a teensy-weensy bit sadistic).

Now it's time to go catch up on the VERY chatty events of the day.

Sorry to hear about that Tom. How old is your son?

aspeelma - 2009-11-24 6:50 AM Who wants to come run a half marathon with Kim and I in NJ in April?

Come on, you know you want to!!!

Actually, there's a chance I'll be spending a couple months in Rhode Island starting in March, so.... maybe???

I was looking at the calendar last night. It would actually suit me better to run the HM in April than the Marine Corps Historic Half in May if I want to do Black Bear.

aspeelma - 2009-11-24 1:26 PM Ghoulies something is wrong. My knee has been stiff since Sunday. I could feel it doing some popping when I was running then, but it never really hurt. It hasn't hurt since then it has just sort of been stiff. I head out for my 5 mile run this afternoon, I live on a hill, so I start running down hill and I can feel a popping again at the top of my knee cap, but this time it hurts. I couldn't run very far, I turned around and walked home. I already have a doctor appt scheduled for Dec. 2, I doubt I could get in before that. I have a HM on January 17th this is no time to be injured.Right now I'm sitting in my recliner with it propped up and with ice on it.

That's not good to hear Ann! Stiff joints are NO fun. Kudos on being smart and walking home. I hope you can get into your doc earlier if possible. Take care of yourself...

Thanks Tom. I'm actually a little worried this morning, it is still sore. I wrapped it, which has helped. I've also done some searching online and I think it may be runner's knee. I'm planning on inserting a few days rest in right now, which means no turkey trot for me tomorrow but my husband and son are still going to do it so I will be the cheerer for a change instead of the cheerie. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation is my plan for the next few days. I was ahead of schedule in my training plan so I should be ok to take a few days off right now.

wgraves7582 - 2009-11-25 7:58 AM Cool picture Robin - I haven't seen any in our yard lately - maybe the gun shots from all the neighbors are scaring them a little?

Tomorrow is the greatest holiday in the world!

Yes, cool picture.

Why do you say tomorrow is the greatest holiday in the world?

wgraves7582 - 2009-11-25 8:04 AM So speaking about tomorrow - last night after my workout I took the wife and son for ice cream (I just had chocolate milk Cool) and my son was talking about how he never feels stuffed after eating anymore and that he got hungry earlier again.

I told him I never feel stuffed except 2 days a year - Thanksgiving and Christmas.

So do you eat until you are stuffed generally?  QOD!

My kids eat around the clock! No kidding, I'm not sure where they put it all. Both kids can have a gigantic dinner, then 20 minute later say they are hungry. It is a good thing we live on a farm and do a lot of butchering and freezing of vegetables, I'd hate to see the grocery bill if I actually had to buy all of the food we go through.

QOD --> No, I don't generally eat until I'm stuffed. Currently I take in 100-200 calories every 3 hours or so, so I generally feel hungry a lot.

Because we get to eat like there is no tomorrow and it is not about receiving presents it is about being thankful for all that we have!

And have fun cheering.  Sometimes it can be just as fun
