Happy New Year Manatees! I started my training plan from my new coach this weekend and tracking food at my plate on Livestrong.com. All is good so far.

I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to training for 2010!

Right on!

I started my training plan this week as well, for HIM in May.

Not tracking food, but per New Year's Resolution, am tracking all outgoing money.

Very close! "Weak point" is the usual usage. "Weakest point" is perfectly understandable, though.

I'm sick. (See logs for detailed b!tching and whining)

Taking my stuffy head to the pool didn't seem like a good idea yesterday. I'll try the bike after work today and see how it goes.

Blech.

Hi everyone

I'm not having a great new year so far! despite good resolutions to be positive etc...
My son has caught chicken pox off my baby, and has become quite unwell with it.. why is it that doctors' children develop the rare complications of things??  I'm sitting in the lounge with my laptop with him out with me for the night as the paeds reg (resident in US speak) thinks I can monitor and hydrate him at home. which is true but doesn't make me feel any less anxious up here on my own with the three kids.  also i used to go out drinking with the paeds reg and it feels weird having a friend making that call on my child.
anyway... no training all week obviously.  lots of chocolate also...

Rebecca: sorry to hear you're unwell. get better soon

Yanti: same NY resolution as me! I have an indoor trainer for my bike now but it's noisy so won't use it while kids ill..

happy training everyone, hope to rejoin you soon

Good morning everyone.  Is everyone feeling ok?  Well I feel like a stupid arse.  I thought I had done a number on my groin/hip/tummy area. Oh the pain was just unbearable. At one point I thought I might have appendicitis or gall stones.  It hurt like CRAP.  I did a 5 mile run on New Years day with my sis in law and husband. Those 2 run MUCH faster than I do and I was hauling my fat arse as well as I could.   I swam yesterday and Monday and felt so much better right away, but about 2 hours later the pain came back.   Well last night I had major gas.  I mean MAJOR! I know this is TMI but I am just amazed at how much better I feel!  I have honestly never experienced anything like it in my life.  I'm pretty sure my over-indulgence over the Xmas holidays caused this, then all the jiggling around running. Oh my do I ever feel like an idiot.

Anyway, lol  I had a question about a potential Ironman goal for turning 40 in 2011.  I am 40 in December NEXT year so I am wondering about doing an IM in 2012 but I am scared. Very scared.  It seems like such an amazing goal though!

Oh and I found out this morning that for the La Jolla OWS in San Diego I will NOT be allowed to wear a wetsuit.  Didn't read ALL the fine print. Whoops.

Wow, it's an ailment-filled past few days for us manatees. I am feeling muuuch better. Hope all y'all (and all y'all's kids!) feel better soon.

Lynne, I'm glad it was just the mother of all fart machines and not appendicitis or stones! I think it'd be badass if you did an Ironman.

Today at the pool I swam 50 meters without stopping, which is the farthest I have ever swum in one shot in my entire freaking life. And then I hung on to the side of the pool and gasped and panted for 5 or 6 minutes before I could get on with it.

Since I've bunged up Week 1 of my plan with illness and all, I'm thinking about just starting over with day 1 next Monday...

P.S. Hi 1stTimeTri!

Rebecca-Big high flipper to you! You'll just build on that swim and before you know it you'll be swimming laps. I started by swimming freestyle as much as I could and then would swim backstroke until I caught my breath, then back to free, fwiw.

And, Lynne -- hell yeah go for the ironman. Just read an article about Bill Bell. he's 87 and has done 32 ironmans. He started, yes started at age 59!! I've seen him here in the SoCal area and while he's much slower now, he is still out there. You ARE so capable!

I still don't have my official training plan for my March 28th tri so I'm just doing my s/b/r as I can. Fortunately, I can get outdoors and not in freezing weather to train.

Oh dear! Manatee {{{MELON PRESS}}}. I'm sorry. Well, hopefully, the year can only GET BETTER from here on out! I don't know why docs' kids get the weird stuff ... I'm a dog trainer and in the States I had a drug-seeking dog. She LOVED medication, any kind, pretty colorful little pills, could get any cupboard or drawer open that she could reach, and get into any child-proof container.

Farts. Excruciating. Funny. Excruciatingly funny ... yeah, the pockets of gas can put a lot of pressure on the surrounding structures and cause shooting pains as nerves get touched on, and cramping ...

I'm just glad you are feeling better!

Lynne, I think you are an extraordinary candidate for Ironman. You've been in endurance sports for a few years, you are ONE TUFF CHICKIE, and you definitely have the sense of humor and mental attitude to get you through the training.

You'll be fine in La Jolla, the water's fluffy and warm there. LOL. At least, I remember it being so!

I LOVE the expression "BIG HIGH FLIPPER" and it is sooooo apropos!!! Swimming is tough, tough, tough for so many reasons ... and you're doing it, and doing it WELL. That was a milestone and you SHOULD be very proud of yourself, as we all are.

Also, it sounds like you're feeling a bit better, which pleases me.

Rebecca, which plan are you on? Is it one of the ones from the site? If you can, re-doing week 1 is a good idea and always a safe bet.

Congrats on conquering the pool.  I am jealous you get to swim in a 50 meter pool.  INCREDIBLY JEALOUS.  Keep at it, it becomes easier each time

My tummy still hurts   Beginning to think I am not a farting machine after all. Well I am, just not as much as I thought.

Thanks Lynn. That gives me plenty of hope!  Freaking afraid but by then I think I'll have aquired enough knowledge and probably a coach. It seems like such a good life goal, don't you think?   It's been really mild here, but of course that means wet.  50's.  Sunny today but cooler!

Oh, it's not a 50-meter pool, it's 25 -- I just wrenched around at the end and went back... should I have said I did 2x25? or is it 25x2? I don't even know, lol. Anyway, I did A LAP! Laughing

maybe tomorrow I'll do a lap and change before having to gasp on the side of the pool for 5 minutes.

Feel better, everyone.  Missy, has the pox passed?

My big swim plans went by the wayside this week -- our pool won't open when it is under 45 degrees, as it has been in the mornings all week.  I haven't really made it out to run, even.  Ugh.  This weekend is DH's marathon (Disney) and then I *finally* get to focus on my training more.  Woo hoo!

Oh and I found out this morning that for the La Jolla OWS in San Diego I will NOT be allowed to wear a wetsuit.  Didn't read ALL the fine print. Whoops.

I always enjoy reading comments by her Yantiness.  She so funny.

she is....

well, simply amazing!

I took Wednesday of and rested and yesterday I was back at the gym doing my circuit traning.
5 circuits in 46 min, 14 min faster than Monday and Tuseday.

If I'm going to be able to do it this fast every time, I will easely fit in more biking and running too.

I'll start slow next week with some morning training. I'll go to the gym and swim, bike and run one day of each a week, so 3 mornings for 20-30 min.

I'll do that for a few weeks and then either do longer sessions or more (like 2 of each).

I just have to get my morning routine going first.
I'm not a morning person, so it will not be easy.
