Hi there,
I just have a bike this afternoon and brick session tomorrow and I can tick all the boxes on this week.
It's been a busy time so excuse the lack of posts!
This week will be training as per usual till Thursday then Fri / Sat off with my enticer distance tri on the Sunday.
Feel ok, not like I'll be setting any records but will get through it without any problems. Would have liked to have done some more running and brick sessions in the lead up to go in feeling much stronger but that can't be helped.
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

I spent 4 hours tonight in the emergency room due to a 5 mm kidney stone deciding it wants to get out.  Until it passes I am suspending workouts....  Will let you know when I am back in the game.

Wow. I hope it decides to leave soon!

One of my coworkers had a kidney stone. She said that the pain was worse than going through child-birth. After it passed, she put it in a bottle because it was her "third kid."

Can they use ultrasound or something to smash it into bits?

5 mm is the largest they let you pass naturally.  Worse news there is a 2 mm that is still in my kidney.  Everytime is decides to move a little the pain actually exceeds the ability of the pain medicine, so I feel it.  Then it and I settle into another round of drink and wait....

Hi everyone,
Hi Michelle, glad to see you back, great job having a busy week and getting in all the planned workouts.

Steve,  oh wow!  I have never experienced a kidney stone, and from what I here, hope never to do so.  I hope you can pass it soon and get back in action.

Scott, great work, 75 minutes on the trainer! When you are on the trainer do you listen to music, watch TV, follow a trainer DVD?

I have a harder time on the trainer than an the dreadmill.  In fact, as I type, I am actually procrastinating getting on said trainer.   Arrived home about 45 minutes ago from my son's meet (He took 3rd place! Proud MomLaughing) and....put in a load of laundry, read the paper, went on-line...SIGH, must get on with it.  I just have a really hard time getting started with a workout when it isn't at it's regularly scheduled time, or what was originally planned.  Am I that stuck in routine? How about everyone else?

Congratulations!

I find that if I stop, I don't get started again. In other words, if I go home, sit down and turn on the TV --> then I'm probably not going to get back up again.

Like I said before, my coworker told the pain is worse than childbirth. Maybe you should name him, and buy him a car seat.

Do they have any idea how long it'll take to pass?

TWO WEEKS!   At least childbirth is quicker than that, even the longest labors.
Hope this doesn't go that long.

I admit its hard to keep interested on the trainer, I do a couple of things.  First, I record alot of good movies and good TV shows.  THey have to be really interesting or you will get bored. I watch them on hte trainer.  Another this is intervals, that way you can keep it interesting.  Reading on stready LSD rides.  This actual works quite well if I know i am going at the same pace same gear for a long time.  TO get a bike caddy, its only $15.00 well worth it.  Plus, my thinking is that its all about the bike, if I keep that in mind, making bike training the priority, its easier to stay motivated.

Sunday
45 minutes in the weight room
30 minutes on the dreadmill

today schedule
60 on the trainer

Hi everyone. Well this week there isn't any plan. I pinched a nerve in my neck and can’t move my head very well so I'm not training until I get better, which I really hope is soon.

HELLO all...One thing I LOVE about texas this time of year is that there are some gorgeous running days.   (But we are due for ice and snow later this week) I will take what I can get because the HEAT will be here soon!

Biking is by far my weakest link.  I am just focusing on time rather than distance right now.  In a month I will focus in distance but I have to get past the monotany of spin.

Yesterday was awesome and I was able to do 6 miles out at the lake.

this week
Monday: Swim 2000 weights Full body
Tuesday:  Bike 40 min Run 3miles
Wednesday: Spin class (sub teaching) Swim 1800
Thursday: Doing cross fit with a friend (just checking it out) and Bike 35 min (inteveral0
Friday: Easy swim or rest
Sat: Run 7 miles
Sunday: bike 1 hour

HI everyone!

Sorry  I didn't check in yesterday.  When I got home after swim class I had so much to do and then my husband decided to run some sort of scan/check/ thing on the computer and I had to get to bed.  Need my sleep.

Joanna - Yep, Texas weather has its perks in winter.  Up here in Chicagoland, I have been able to run outside two times in January.  Woo Hoo!  I know there are people who are a bit more hardy than I who run outside no matter what the weather.  Not I.

Scott - Have you tried any of the Spinervals DVD's.  I discovered them last year.  They are by Troy Jacobson who was a professional triathlete.  I have two of them and  in fact, I'm in one of them!   He filmed one last March in the Lifetime Fitness in Vernon Hills, which is a northern suburb of Chicago and used members of Lifetime.  It's the Spinervals 3.0 Endurance Ride.

Also, I have decided to try Tuesday as my day off also.  It seemed that my weekends and then the Monday night class had me wiped out and trying to keep it going until Friday left me with no energy by Wednesday and Thursday.  We will see how this goes.

Mindy, Ouch! a pinched nerve. How did that happen?

Steve:  I hope that bugger passes on it's own.  What does the doc "getting it" involve? or do I not want to know.  Not surgery I hope.

Michelle, keep up the good work.  You have been doing great with keeping on schedule and getting in all your training in.

I'm getting worried about our little group here.  It seems we are dropping off with injuries and the like.  Let's hope everyone gets healthy and back in action soon.  Those of you having to lay low right now just keep the desire burning so as soon as you are able you will get going.  Stay in the mentor group so we can keep you motivated and upbeat even though you may not be able to train at the moment.

Take care all!

Susie

I have the "No Mercy" one and the title is really being nice and gentle compared to what the workout really is!! Its a pretty intensive 120 minute workout. I like spinervals, but I dont always like the music.  So i have to put a headphone in one ear to make it a little less painful to listen to.

If I do not drink and flush it out he is saying surgery to go get it....  And just think there is the little brother waiting in the wings or kidney as the case is....  Worse then drinking is straining to see if you have passed it yet or if it is just in a happy place for the moment....

I have an up date on my neck. I went to the doctor cause I was having such a hard time sleeping and she told me that I had pulled a couple of muscles in my neck. She said it would be a few day before I get back to normal. She gave me some meds for the pain and swelling so I hope it wont take to long. I kinda miss the gym... Cry
And I have no clue how it happened. I went to roll over in my bad and heard a very not normal popping sound and then I couldn't move my head without pain shooting down my side. I must have just turned the wrong way.

OK, you outdid me. A couple of years ago, I reached for a doorknob, and something in my neck popped. I wasn't able to turn my head for about 10 days or so.

The good news is that it never happened again.

(Hopefully, I did NOT just jinx myself. LOL)

It was 63 degrees F outside today! I *had* to go out for a run.

Before you get jealous though - we're under a Winter Weather Advisory for tomorrow. Snow and ice will start in the afternoon, and continue throughout Saturday.

Funky weather. 63F one day, snow/ice the next.....

HI All,

Scott: Glad you took that rest day when you needed it.   Always important to listen to your body.  If it's telling you rest...rest.  I learned this the hard way.   So many people underestimate the importance of rest.  I find like you, that a well timed rest day, when you really need it, can get you back on track when you've been dragging.

Also, I agree that the music on the Spinervals DVDs is pretty lame.  I do like the workouts though and would like to get a couple more.

Steve:  How's the progress? What a horribly frustrating (and painful!) experience.  Are you home or can you go to work?

Mindy:  Hope you're on the mend.  I once threw out my back sneezing.   Many times those types of injuries actually have their origins in an earlier workout/training session.  Perhaps your form was off, spinning bike not set properly etc or even something as innocent as twisting funny to avoid a rock, etc can emerge later as neck/back strain.

Dee:  63 degrees....sounds lovely, even though it is short lived.  I'd "have" to go for a run too.   So how'd the run go?  Did the foot behave?

So, I hope that eveyone who is not on our  "walking wounded" list is getting in the training.   Tomorrow's Friday already. This week just flew by! I forgot to ask everyone to post the week's workouts, so let's here those weekend plans.  Anyone have any big training sessions on the agenda?

Sending positive thoughts and healing vibes all of our group members who are currently down, but not out!

Susie
