She's a 2008, but I just got her 2 weeks ago.

That bike is swoon worthy!

wgraves7582 - 2010-04-09 9:54 AM Ann(e) - I luv looking at pictures of your bike - I feel like I am part owner - LOL

You are more than welcome to give me some money towards being a part owner.

You did help me make a good decision though, Mr. Graves. Thank you.

I just re-read the post and thought this might be coming!

Well here is what I am willing to do - You tell me which Red Stem you want that I sent you and I will contribute it to the Ann(e) and Bill Felt - LOL

Are you serious?

I was going to send you money this summer and just have you bring it along when you come to Carlisle in October.

I love her. She is so much nicer to ride than the roadie I was riding. Now I'm going to fix up my roadie and use her for just casual rides.

Morning gang.  I just got back from PT/ART and I am whipped.  She ripped into me hard today.  I am going to feel it tonight.

So, Mike and Robin are running Half Mary's this weekend........GOOD LUCK!!!

What does everyone else have planned? I'm running 10 tomorrow and planning to swim/bike on Sunday.

Off to work.  Happy Friday.

OK, I guess I should post some stats about myself now that we're on page 10!

Name: Anne

Story: Age 48, never played sports, no exercise, NOTHING until my mid 30s when I started jogging up and down the road a little bit hoping to lose some weight. From there joined a beginner running group and started running little 5 and 10ks. I'm not fast but I finish! A stress fracture in 2007 set me back from running, so I dusted off my old road bike that my BF had bought for me.  Tried a duathlon (run/bike) and liked it enough to think that maybe a triathlon would be even better.  Only issue was I never learned to swim. In 2008 I signed up for a swim class geared toward triathletes as our local Y. The first night the instructor had us swim 25 yards across the pool to gauge what level we were at. I thought I would drown and had to flip over on my back a couple of times.  Swimming is still my weakest sport although it is getting better.

Last year I did a couple of triathlons and enjoyed them. Best was Tri Shark, since we could wear a wetsuit!

Family Status: Live with my sweetie of 7 years, collectively we have three kids, all out of the house. We belong to three cats.

Current training: Run 3 of 4x a week, trying to get to the pool 3x a week and ride 2 or 3x.  It's hard to squeeze it all in.  Most of my riding has been in the basement on the drainer but now the weather's breaking and things are looking up.

This year's races:  Sullivan, IL sprint (4/25), Tri Shark in June, Capital City Biathlon in May, possibly an Xterra in late June in Booneville, Indiana (depends how my mtbiking goes). Lake Springfield sprint or oly (not sure yet), Railsplitter Triathlon in Petersburg in August, possibly a late season tri

Weight Loss: I am an Athena and probably always will be since I'm 5'8" and "sturdy". Could stand to lose about 8 lbs, mostly around my middle, the result of my love for food in general

Why I Will Make a Good Ghoulie Mentee: For me, half the fun of triathlon is the people that you meet!

No you are going to turn her into a single speed training machine!!!!

I would love to. But I don't know how. You going to take her back with you and work on this for me over the winter? Practice up on your LBS mad skillz!

No problem!!!  I can do that for you!  Make her into a cross/training machine and turn you onto cyclocross racing

I know nothing about cyclocross. But as I've said before, I'll try anything once, twice if I like it.

You need to look at Robin's (ceilidh, I think that's right) signature line! Being slow is better than sitting on the couch eating a bag of chips.

Wow – you all are positive PROLIFIC in your posting!  I’ve got a few responses I scribbled down from the train ride in to work this morning so please don’t mind my carpet bombing of several posts that in a row then get caught up and do it all over again. Laughing

At least it doesn’t look like I have to worry about this group being too quiet!

Oh –fair warning – I love me emoticons.  It’s a bad habit from my online gaming days that I just can’t kick.  Cry

jcarmody - 2010-04-07 11:56 AM Hey Goolies -

Is there room for Janet from Michigan?

Hi Janet!  I know I responded to your inspire but I thought I would warn everyone who wasn’t in a mentor group with you before, like I was, that Janet is much more badass than she gives herself credit for!

It will be great being in a group with you again.

bigr82 - 2010-04-09 9:34 AM I have some shimano & currently use LOOK, never tried speedplay but know many ppl that love them.  Is that a trait of speedplay(hard to unhook)?  My look pedals are super easy, unless you unclip your left foot and try to step down on your right side .

After spending last year on a really old mountain bike, I finally went for my first ride on my “real” bike last weekend and totally did this!  I had to stopped to chat with my wife who was jogging and was met with the oddest combination of outright concern and stifled laughter that I have ever seen.

kali0824 - 2010-04-08 9:05 AM Thanks you guys!  I had no idea it was much easier on the treadmill.  That would have been a rude awakening on race day.  Will have my mom watch the kids while I run in her neighborhood.  No hills, but there is a bridge run every Thursday night I am thinking about joining.  Maybe that will be my hill workout.
I think the mentor thing will really help.  Thanks for all the answers!

I am going to let you in on a little secret of the Ghoulies!

If you offer up a pitcher of margarita's there will half a dozen of us there within the hour to babysit for you.

Make that half a dozen and one.    I am definitely in the right group!  Margaritas were one of the reasons why we decided to get married in Mexico.  I can be bribed to do just about anything with a good margarita!

Sulcus - 2010-04-08 7:06 AM Good morning all!

I hope there is still room for another.  I am entering my second year of triathlons and I am really struggling with consistency, which for an overweight Clyde isn't exactly optimal.  I love the attitude in here and the fact that some of you have already conquered the weight issue.  I won't lie - I'm also a total sucker for inspires becuase they motivate me so having a group that does them would be great!

I have already been trying to send this for over two hours but work is decidely not cooperating with my BT usage, so I will have to get my "official" bio up later today.

Shawn

Hey Shawn! It's great to have another Ghoulie Clyde on board. I'm definitely with you on having issues with consistency. Let's work on just making sure that the workouts we are able to do are as good as possible and have some fun while we're out there. I don't know about you, but my training time is my ONLY me time. Learn to love it bud!

I guess we’ll have to push each other though.  It’s funny because I never considered my training time as ME time before.  That’s actually a great way to think about it because, in my head, I always am trying to figure out how to balance the two.

I learned something already!

Oh - I should also get my bio up.  We're so far into this thread that I forgot I hadn't put mine up yet...

If the group is every driving through the corn fields of Central IL, we do have more than corn.  TONS of good mexican places, atleast 3 for everyone small town hehehe.  Atleast two days a week they have margarita specials!!!

I wonder if anyone got a video. Have to look on youtube later.

Tell them it's a new training method, it burns 300x more calories than traditional methods. In 2 weeks everyone will be doing it!
