New IM Woodlands (Page 9)

Hey all...I've been a "lurker" for several weeks now, wanted to stop in and say hi.  I live/work/play in the Woodlands so a Woodlands IM would be a wonderful thing in MY opinion.  I've been training for the Houston Marathon and for the Lonestar 1/2 in 2011, but this might change my training plan up a bit!  In a good way... 

I'm going to try and make it to the Township meeting this evening.  Mainly out of curiosity.  Unless I'm mistaken, it's a public meeting.

I really hope everything goes smoothly tonight.  I plan on being a volunteer in 2011 and racing in 2012.  Can't wait to see the bike route.  I'm guessing it will be similar to the Ironstar route.

Big day! I will be there and will get you some updates best I can. I will also be trying to post up to the Swim Shops of the Southwest FB page (shameless plug). When I get back tonight I will give full details on the meeting, any course info I can gather. Speaking of which, in one of my conversations a 2 loop swim was mentioned. I found that pretty interesting.

Also, I wouldn't be too awful worried. I'm pretty sure this is more a formality than anything. If the answer was no then WTC would have just withdrew the request. You don't fly into town to make a big presentation and work on a contract for months and months just to get shot down in a vote. If for some reason that happens, you can guarantee there will be quite the campaign to 'adjust' who sits in those seats come November.

Might want to check ironman.com this evening or tomorrow. Word on the street....

My tri club sent out an email calling us all to show up. The fear mentioned several times at our Monday meeting was that the locals aren't going to want their streets shut down and will show up to voice their opinions. I wish I could go support the tri community but I can't make it this evening Anyway, here are the details on when and where to be if you can make it:

Just sat down...late to the first meeting...

Start northshore. Swim finish town green. Bike west. Sounds like 1 loop. Run 2 or 3 loop. Keeping actual course close to his chest..literally. Good feedback so far. No negative yet

1st meeting unanimous yes! One down one to go

2-3 loop run means flat and shaded.  good news
