Hey! I've been to Casa Bonita. Food isn't the best but its a fun and unique atmosphere. Sopapias (sp?) were very tasty. A local guy tried opening a similar style restaurant and was sued by Casa Bonita. Didn't hear how the suit ended but the restaurant is still open.

Ha! did you see the diving show?  That place is a riot.

Yes, we did see the diving show. We had a lot of fun. I haven't been to the Denver area since then.

I remember when Lowry was an official air force base and I played golf there all the time on leave from the Navy!

I remember when you could drive from Denver to Colorado Springs and laugh at Castle Rock because there was nothing there!

So have you been to Casa Bonita yet????

MMMMMM......Sopapillas!!!!

I used to live in New Mexico

I love sopapillas. That's one of my key things in determining a good Mexican restaurant. They have to have good sopapillas.

LiamD - 2010-07-07 7:33 AM Oh yeah, forgot about LeMond and what he did for American cycling on the international stage.  Thanks - makes sense!
Cycling is kind of like soccer regarding the bandwagon thing.  It used to bother me that people talked so much trash about soccer - boring, not enough scoring, less talented athletes, etc.  Now, and especially during this year's World Cup, I'm fine with it.  It gets a little tiring hearing all the "experts" lecture me about it after they've watched 3 games.
Kinda like me giving you training advice!

"Less talented athletes"  blah blah blah... My fiance and I were talking - he's a HUGE sports guy - and he was wondering how the US would do in the World Cup if our BEST athletes played soccer instead of basketball or football.   How many pro bball or football guys played soccer growing up?  A lot.  I knew a kid who played soccer with Kobe Bryant when they were teenagers.
I think soccer takes much more talent then the other sports. Also, I don't know if a talent for other sports translates to soccer. I wonder how our team would be if our best players weren't recruited to European teams. Some day our leagues will be able to compete financially with the other teams around the world and maybe we'll be able to keep our best players on home turf.

Sopapillas were the only good thing - besides the entertainment - about the place.  I will have to ask about the restaurant - I have not heard about it.  Hopefully his food is better!

When I said local I meant here in Salt Lake City. The restaurant is called The Myan.  The decorations are better and the food is better, not that I would say it is good Mexican food, its passable. They also have the diving show, but not the ape so your son should be ok to visit. If you're ever here in town give me a call and we'll take you there if you want.

Anyway, I was feeling a little under the weather after my trip, so I've been taking it easy.  Good thing I planned for a taper, and added a bunch of extra yoga classes and swims into my goals for the month.  So I've already been to 2 yoga classes since I've been back.  Hopefully I'm back to 100% by the weekend for my last long run and bike ride before my race next week (though neither will be overly long or hard).

Sorry you're not feeling well. Lucky it fits into your training plan. Take it easy so you will be ready for your race.

Good morning team.  Got a 1 hour trainer ride in this morning.  Heading to the gym for a treadmill run at lunctime (to avoid the 101 degree temperatures, I'll endure the dreadmill).  At least this weekend the weather guessers are calling for cooler temperatures (high 80's, low 90's) Undecided

I still haven't put my goals in the spreadsheet.  For some reason, the spreadsheets are blocked here at work, but the BT site is not.  It may be because our head of online security is a distance runner.  But my goals will be 11 sessions each of swim, bike, run.

I put your goals on the spreadsheet. You're now OFFICIAL. Of course, if you don't enter your progress, you'll be listed on the next Slacker list.......

I have a feeling that even when I enter my progress, I'll still be on the Slacker List! Embarassed

My bad Paul - I thought it was daisy2908 replying.  That would be cool and I get out your way periodically and I would love to see it.  How does Casa Bonita have any say what happens in Salt Lake City???  That is what really threw me off - I figured it was local to another part of Denver!

The owner of the Mayan used to live in Denver. I think Casa Bonita thought that he stole their idea and sued over it.

I'm not, but I need to taser myself today.

I want to go for a wog, but it was over 100F the last time I checked. I'm not going to wog in that.....

I guess there's always the treadmill.

Treadmill, or taser..... Treadmill, or taser..... I dunno. That's a tough decision.

I was supposed to go for a run tonight, but couldn't bring myself to do it.  Took a bike ride instead -- too bad it counts only for the other challenge.  Looks like I'll be on the slacker list for a little bit longer.
