One word: California. And I don't think it was as much as celebrating as it was mocking. And to think, kids in this state get suspended from school for wearing American Flag T-shirts on May 5.

DAM! I am as liberal as it gets and I am really shocked by that. Tho, my mom is still of the generation that thinks its disrespectful to wear a flag in any form. But that is due to respect..

More HMMMMMM (with a snitty tone of voice).

It is annoying, but I figure that as long as noone's getting confrontational then I just do my best to ignore people like that. It's not worth ruining what should be a nice time with my family, so I don't let it.

I have ten more minutes of wasting the State's money.

EXACTLY!

funny story, we usually end up going to the Mexican restaurant at the end of our road on May 5th. My husband wears his kilt and my step daughter (you are hearing this right) plays the bag-pipes. They used to have a mariachi band and they would play together. Everyone has a grand time. Oh, and we can walk there so the margaritas flow!

That sounds like a heck of a party! I motion that Robin is required to bring a camera to this shindig next May...

Somewhere in the constitution/ early laws wearing a flag is illegal, not to mention disrespectful...as well as using in many other forms.  I have seen flag tarps...yes, people are covering their crap heaps with the american flag.

looking into it...it seems that it is now a Code that following is voluntary.  Except in commercial/advertising, but that doesn't seem to be enforced.

I find it interesting that the flag is never to be printed on something that is designed to be single use and discarded ie. paper plates and napkins as well as the little plastic flags that people like to wave around or stick in their lawns and then toss.  This sort of item is enthousiastically used by many on holidays in which we are suppose to be showing respect to the Flag.

Haha. Ya...I pretty much guessed that. Thyroid disorders are super common, esp. in women. Glad you have a diagnosis and hope that you get your meds figured out quick! (Sometimes its a bit of a stuggle getting the right dose)

Technically I believe it is legal in Canada. At least in Toronto, if I recall correctly. It might end up being a professionalism citation at school for "dress code" violation??

But if you can find a nude beach or private residence, I will happily oblige
