Heather,

I was thinking about you and hope that all went well today. I was at the Dr's today and they have given me a clean bill of health.

My oncologist trained several women last year for the bike portion of a triathelon. He gave me lots of encouragement.

hi girls

I am home all went well this am on great drugs....VERY sore feel like I have a horrible pulled muscle in my hamstrang oddly enough that is the only thing that hurts! Doc said I was in a weird poisiton during surgery and they may have pulled a muscle. Been eating lots of SF popsicles this afternoon.

I am married to the best man in the world he has been taking very good care of me...

I am going to walk around the block in the am.

Going to get fitted for running shoe in the next few days, need a good pair. In addition I thought about getting another tattoo that i designed in between my shoulders while I am out of commision in the pool for a few day s

Hope you all had a good training day!

HeatherPS so glad you all are here to talk to @@

You all are doing awesome!

Kendra, I'm SO glad that you have a clean bill of health!  Good news!

Heather, glad to hear you made it out of surgery just fine....amazing that you are already thinking about your next workout!

Mel, Kaci, and Zoya, you all are amazing.  Your logs look awesome, and you are all kickin' some booty!

My pool has been closed since Saturday.  It's killing me!  I want to swim....they say maybe tomorrow.

I'm sick too.  Headache, nausea, dry heaving.  I have a student working with me today.....she sure didn't like me sitting at my desk dry heaving!

Better to rest up and get healthy before pushing again.  Hope you feel better Zoya!

How is everyone?  are you practicing with your nutrition yet?  anyone tried any gels or sports drinks?

The bloks ARE good!  But I haven't seen black cherry!  I'll have to search for that.  I also use e-gels.  they're bigger, more calories, more sodium, and taste good.  I have tried a LOT of gels in my search for one I could tolerate!

Sorry you are bored!    LOL!  You'll be good in no time.

OK, looking at the Clif shot bloks on the website, it reminded me of something.  You will see bloks or gels that come with caffeine.  IF you are NOT a regular user of caffeine, there is some evidence of a boost in performance by using caffeine just before or during a race.

BUT, I recommend practicing with this.  I tried it before the swim of my first oly and struggled with the swim....felt like I couldn't get my HR under control.  However, I tried it before a half-marathon and it really worked great!  So practicing is good.

bummer about the stitches Heather!  good luck tomorrow.  I'm feeling better, but skipping my swim because I am still weak.  ick.

Hi all!  I am going to Florida tomorrow for a week, but I'll still be online.    I SO need some warm weather.  And a place that has no snow.

How's everyone doing who wanted to lose a little weight this month?  I think my little puking virus from yesterday will put me at my prepregnancy weight!  Horrible way for it to happen though.

Have a great weekend!

Heather, I'm glad to hear your surgery went well. Sorry about your stitches. I'm sure it must be difficult not being able do what you want to do.

Cathy, Have a good time in FL! What part of FL are you visiting? We are going to visit my parents and my sister the week after next. She lives in Boca. My parents are renting for a few months in FL and then flying back to CA. They live in CA the rest of the year.

I haven't been around most of the week since my MIL is visiting this week. I've missed a few workouts. I was able to go Wed & Fri.

I definitely need to get on a better diet after this week. I've been really bad.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Wow, I gues FL is where it's at this month! I fly out this next week to visit with my grandma who has just turned 95. I'm flying out with Drew (8 months). This will be the first time she's met her great grandchild. Hopefully during this visit I can persuade my aunt to look after Drew while I go for a run here or there. My dad is capable to watch Drew, I just can't see him changing a diaper .

OK, I thought I would post my next week's running goals in the forum since we are all kind of scattering this week between recovery (hope it's going well!!) and traveling. This at the very least will make me be accountable for my milage.

Sunday - In-laws visiting
Monday - rest, long work day
Tuesday - 4 miles
Wednesday - spin class
Thursday - 6 miles
Friday - fly to Naples Florida
Saturday - Grandma's 95th B-day
Sunday - run 4 miles

Have a gret weekend everyone!! Stay warm and dry

Sounds like lots of connections to Florida. My dad is visiting Mt. Dora right now. I've got no plans to head to Florida, but since I'm only one state away, who knows.

Went ballroom dancing last night and had a super time. Getting ready for some tennis now. Will get on the bike later today.

I'm lucky, I don't need to get a bike. I did a century ride about three years ago and got a good road bike then. Before that I had a hybrid, and once I got the road bike, I don't like the hybrid any longer.

slowly building up my swimming. Did 1100 yesterday and then walked 2.2 miles. I was beat. I'm really impressed by those of you who run.

So I registered for my first OLY tri (actually any tri this year is my first). We have this local race - Reston Triathlon, that is hugely popular and it closes out in 20 minutes after the registration opens. It opened at 8 PM yesterday. I tried to register for it at 8:20 and got "this event reached maximum" message. My heart almost stopped. "NO, it is not happening to me!" I thought and ran to another computer upstairs. To my surprise this time I registered successfully, and got my confirmation number from Active.com. I'm officially in! So now I have to build my swimming endurance, that's where I can get most advantage over others, learn how to bike, and build my running base so I would not pass out! I have till September 9th to accomplish all of it... Piece of cake people, piece of cake ;-)

How is everyone else is doing! I'm getting this bike today:

That bike looks awesome. Everyone I know with a canondale love their bike.

I'm eleven weeks away from my first Tri. Five weeks away from the 1/2 marathon. Am I going to be ready? I sure hope so.

Hey everyone,
I'm off to FL. tonight with Drew. I was told that there are some great running trails where I'll be, but I was also told to watch out for the gaters. !!!!!! I'm not sure how much I'll run in FL. I won't have e-mail so I'll check you guys when I get back. Good luck with your training!

Kendra, You'll do great! There always seems to be more energy / endurance on race day. Maybe it's all of the people who come out to cheer people on.

Zoya - Congrats on the bike! You'll have to tell us how you like it. Did you make sure it was a good fit for you?

Have a great week everyone!

Very nice bike. The bike I have is a Bianchi (italian). My hubby and I have matching bikes (are we cute? ) A good bike really makes a big difference in the ride.

Here is the link to my bike. http://gianni.bianchiusa.com/2003/site/bikes/30_Eros.html
