Vacation is over - back to work. My next assignment will involve a little bit of travel this summer - not too much, but enough to put my goal of 50 rides out of reach.  I'll keep riding and logging anyway.

Bopper, I have inherited your bad luck with flats. We blew a tire driving to Atlanta last week. This morning on the way to work, my rear tire went flat. Luckily, it was a slow leak. I re-inflated and made it to work, then changed the tire at lunchtime.

tough week for me as far a commuting - painters on Monday, Rain on Tuesday, Wed/Thru meetings, Tomorrow and the weekend should yield some commutes. Current: 13 of 50 (commute to pool last Sunday).  I took a short spin this morning - even though it's a rest day - and man, the cool air and the freedom of the bike sure made me want to ride today.  Once you're hooked it's tough when you cannot ride.

For me commuting on the bike is kind of like a "free" workout. It's just for fun.

4 more commutes for me this week, that makes 20.5/50.

I agree with you all when you say the bike commute to work can be addicting. I feel that way too. Have a good weekend all.

2 of 3 commutes this week. Today a scheduled rest day fell on a work day and I managed to take the bus giving my legs a break. I prefer biking to the bus. It's quicker for one thing. Granted, I can't read on the bike, so I did catch up on some reading today.

Just one more for me this week,9/50 I have had bronchitis I missed my commutes really bad!! I commuted today back in the saddle!! I transitioned at work to the run and had a major left thigh cramp that prevented me from completing it all. Any ideas what caused my severe charlie horse? The ride home was fine this afternoon. My left thigh is still kinda sore from this am.

Anyways, have Great Fathers Day to all the Dads out there!!

16 of 50, I got some in this weekend, as well as yesterday and today.  Temp yesterday on the ride home: 101 degrees.  This morning, 80 degrees.  It takes a lot of dicipline not to sweat while riding in 80 degree weather.

No commute for me today    I choose instead to do the MS 150 training ride tomorrow. And as this is the 7th week of my training plan it had the longest workouts thus far.  So, trying to use my head, and knowing that if I ride 50 miles tomorrow that will put me way outside my planned distance for the week, I'm skipping the extra ride today.  Hope I'm being smart and not just wimpy.  plan to commute to the pool on Sunday, and be back at the commuting next week.

Barring no major storms going home today, I'm 3/5 this week upping my total to 16/48.

I also added this to my supplies I carry after my rear wheel lockup and tire destruction last week.

I'm at 23 of 50.  I love commuting by bike - it takes no more time than the car in this small town, and the seat time just keeps climbing.   I'm thinking that on my drive to work day tomorrow I'll bring in a couple of changes of clothes, and thus not have to carry them in on the bike and wear somewhat wrinkled pants on bike days.  Thanks to everyone who has taken the challenge for continuing to update.  It helps keep me motivated.  Tim - thanks to you for starting this challenge.
