Yes they will send you the link but I believe it is trackmyathlete.com ... then you can select the athlete/s you want to track from a list on the right side of the web page

dodgersmom - 2011-05-13 11:53 AM For anyone who ordered the GPS tracking, do you know how people access it? I want to send out a note to friends and family with instructions.

I used one for IMFL.  When you receive the tracking device, it will have instructions on how to use it and also instructions on how people can track you.  It was very easy to use and my family was able to track me with it all day so that they could find me on the course.

OK Kids...

the Google sheet is up and populated

I suggest you go in and check/update your information if it is not correct!

Now we need someone on race day to keep and update this as the IMTX watching thread spreadsheet

LOLL...Ok, so I put my name in the 'quote' version twice and it was still dropped off during the thread...and then it still wasn't on the google sheet...am I to take that as a hint???!! HA!

Updated the google version - hope I did it right!

Been lurking for a long time now (more for the weather updates than anything) and I must say you all are an awesome group. That support will go a long way come race day. Best of luck to you all and I am looking forward to my time in the Lone Star State!

With the slight cool down and rain chances, any chance water stay below 76.1?

I am editing after looking at the weather for the next week - with an average high at about only 82 and overnight lows between 50 and 64 for the next week we may have a slight chance.  I think it only needs to drop a couple degrees based on last saturday's 77.9 quoted temp at CB&I Triathlon.

I think that 77.9 was a gift, by the way. I will check the temp this weekend and report back. My car temp is reading 96 right now, so I bet the current temp is around 80 or higher. just a guess though.

You know, I was thinking about that, and if you counted the rumor thread, the 'official' threads that were going in the begining, and this thread, I bet we lapped em.

but just in case. PAD

First Ironman and I am a bit confused with all these bags. Especially I am not sure about the special needs bags. Do you actually stop half way and collect your bag while on the bike, load up and start your second 56miles?

I guess for the bike, I'll put in some extra tubes/C02s (to be safe), 2nd half of my hammer gels, couple of iced HEED drinks and what else?

What do people put in their running special needs bag? There is nutrition handed out all the way along the run so I'm not sure.

Fingers crossed, I for one would much prefer a wetsuit legal race. I just prefer the buoyancy in the water - swimming not my strongest discipline. But you can still wear a suit between 76.1F and 83F and finish - assuming you are not qualifying for Kona etc? Do I have this right?

I'm a decent swimmer and that's what I'm planning to do (wear a wetsuit, so long as it's not closer to 82-83F).

Did anyone notice that they've already increased the price for IM TX 2012 to $625.00!  And I thought the increase to $600.00 for this year's inaugural race (from almost every other US IM race's price of $575.00) was a bit much.

erin116 - 2011-05-12 2:04 PMTut tut, looks like rain...As much as my lawn needs it I don't want the lake to cool down enough to make it wetsuit legal.
I would have agreed with you there Erin, about 3 weeks ago. Would definitely give good swimmers an edge. I will probably be the only person wearing one now. Ill see how things turn out during this last week. Stil fighting this hip issue. I have done nothing but swimming this week, and my hip flexor hurts when kicking. Not a whole lot, but it bangs. Slowed my speed down and causes my hips to drop. Legal or not, I think I am going to suit up and stick to a light flutter kick and pull like crazy. Don't think I'll be getting hardware or a Kona slot with this hip anyways. Actually, thinking about it, same would apply even if I was 100 percent! Can't wait for the race to come so I can stop obsessing and worrying.

How sure are you that it's bursitis? Like, really?

A year and a month ago I thought I "pulled" or "tweaked" something in my flexor or quad. Less than 2 weeks later I was on crutches with a stress fracture, even after not running at all after it started hurting. 4 months on crutches, (VERY undertrained for this race), still going to PT a year later.

Whenever I read stories like yours (been following on the thread) I get really nervous.

Good points from Comet. Another thing to consider - I was out for over a year with hip bursitis / tendonitis. I spent thousands on MRIs (yep, it shows severe inflammation), X-rays (nada), PT, etc. Turned out to be 2 of my vertebrae in my back were crushed together pinching a nerve. Some sports tape to separate them, sleep on an ice pack for a week to bring down the inflammation in the nerve and I was good to go. Now whenever my hip starts to hurt I take care of my back. I stretch it out and ice the area. When I'm running and I start to feel my hip I stretch the back out and really engage my core to keep it the back stretched and the pain goes away. Just telling you this as something else to look for (they found it accidentally when looking for something else) and ways of possibly rehabbing it.

Wow!  That's intense.  Thanks for the tips.  I am glad you got back into it, you can't tell you had  it that bad anymore.  I got an x-ray today with my doc, just to be on the safe side.  No stress fracture detected, and he said the inflammation has good down a "huge amount" from last time!!  Bursa sac is really down, no pain no more when touching it, or putting some serious pressure on it.  Just some hip flexor pain now, bearable though. He said some more ART should help with that.

He gave me the green light to race next weekend!  I am done beating myself up with this for now.  I am just busting with energy to go, I havent been able to do the light taper workouts like all you, so I am GOING NUTS, especially with a house full of women and the daily DRAMA!  Going to be some major stress relief come May 21st!!Yell
