Todd, that's crazy awesome.  I don't know that I realized that you were in the top half of your age group for most of the race.

Well I have won an award but not one that you want to win. I have won a Dumbard award. So I was going over my race this morning with my swim coach and telling her how I did ok but had a bad run because of the side cramps. She asked if I drank enough on the bike and I said "I didnt drink any". I was told to drink more next time.

Sometime ago I read on here (not this group) when I first started that there was no reason to carry water because its just a sprint. So I guess its a lesson learned and now everyone can get a good laugh at it.

Yikes, no wonder you were cramping! That's an easy fix for your next race though, live and learn I do have some friends that don't need to drink in sprints but they're camels and don't know how to sweat.  For me I carry 1 bottle for sprint, 2 for olympic, 3 for HIM which is probably on the high side of what you need but I'd rather have it than be stuck without anything.

The other way to build up is more of a stair step.  It's a little harder up front but will increase your endurance sooner and allow for more recovery. Up to you which you'd like to do but it'd look something like this...

7-Sep916

I'm sure some of you have seen this but Southwest is having a pretty big sale on a ton of flights. Thought it'd be good for those that are considering traveling to races later this year...

So after 3 years of racing I finally broke down and bought a race wheel! Decided to go with the HED Jet 6 C2 for my front and I'm going to get a disc cover built for my rear wheel ($90).  I've heard great things about the C2 rim absorbing vibration so I went with that over the stiffer yet more aero H3. Supposed to ship out next week woho!

I try not to ever do this.

I'm lightheaded and queasy.

And ready to kill the man in the cubicle next to me for his curly fries.

Holy smokes....GO EAT!!!  Go steal those curly fries and get some food in you!!  I think I'd be passed out by 10am if I didn't eat.  On AM swims days I eat a banana beforehand, breakfast #1 when I get home, breakfast #2 when I get to work and sometimes a mid-morning snack and I'm starving come lunchtime.

You should keep some snacks in your desk for days like this?

Nice... I am definitely doing the wheel cover before IMFL.  I am waiting on my new cranks, and I have plans to buy a new base bar and clip ons, and I am buying a new Adamo saddle on the 17th.  $125 on Bikeisland.com   ~   yep, it's a race saddle - road for $99.

That will just about do it for bike upgrades this year.  next year ~ new bearings for cranks and new wheels!!!

I think there wont be anything left of the original bike once you get done.

I give a ++ for the Adamo Race

Goooooood morning all.

I finally have a bit of a slow day around work!  Busy weeks are good for $$, bad for sanity.

So, is anyone racing this weekend?

I'm racing this weekend   I'm super excited!!!!!  This race was my first tri last year and I really excited to see how much faster I am than last year.  And two friends are also coming out to race, and another to be our sherpa/photographer/cheerleader.

Yes   A small cup, but that's all I usually have before a race anyway.  Post-race you better believe I'm picking up a large coffee on the way home.

Well.....I didn't want to be the one to say it, but yea, maybe a little   It's a tough call though.  I know I'll beat them both on the swim.  I'm pretty solid with transitions so I think I can get them there.  I've been cycling and have done more long rides then them....I think I can get at least one of them here, the other it will be close.  But, they're both faster runners then me....I'd say for sure they'll throw down at least a 7.45 pace.  So, we'll see what happens.

haha...it's what we all do.  We just don't all admit it!

It's a longer bike and swim so that will play to your advantage.  Well you should be ahead of them going into the run and if you see them pass you...it's GAME ON!

Ooohhh....where can I get me one of those????  Hate pumping up my tires.

With my old tires I think I had them around 110-115.  I believe my new tires can go up to 140....and they were freshly pumped yesterday by the nice guys at the bike shop
