PennState - 2010-07-30 6:53 PM Hey what is the group planning on for training this weekend?

This morning I am heading up to a bike path that runs from the Ontario area to somewhere near the ocean with the Saturday group I ride with.  Should be about 70 miles round trip and hopefully I can sneak in some intervals.  Tomorrow I have a 15 mile long run for the week.  I swam last night, but may again tomorrow after the run depending on what the wife wants to do.  Our 14th anniversery is Tuesday, so I better behave a bit if I want to see the 15th!   She is a trooper about all this training though!!

Have a good weekend all!

Those sound like some great workouts! Keep it up!!

I just got back to California from NY. I spent the past week with family and friends in the NY area after LP. I will have to post a pic along with the whole tattoo story some time soon

GRB1 -

Getting ready to go on vacation to Vancouver WA/Portland OR.  With this in mind I have Tuesday wide open prior to leaving on Wed.  Think I am going to ride the whole IM WI course, all 112.  Good test of the fitness.  I have aleady rented a bike for the week in WA, hooking up with a multiple IM finisher for some training while there.  Turns out my mother in law has some good connections.

.

Sounds like a lot of fun!

I can't explain it, but triathlon spectating is SO much more fun post IM!  =) I was in Ithaca, NY today cheering on club members and it was great to see them out there.  I saw marmadaddy (he's probably everyone's "friend" here) and some other BT folks.  I used to get nervous meeting BT people, but now it's REALLY fun to see "familiar" faces!

Exciting that people are thinking about next year! I just signed up for my first marathon on December 5th, the California International Marathon in Sacramento. My 18 week training plan (using Hal Higdon) starts tomorrow!

This is what I'm probably thinking for next year:

Wildflower Long Course - May 2011
Big Kahuna 70.3 - Sept 2011
IMAZ - November 2011!

Will probably throw some shorter races in there for fun but training focus will be on preparing for IMAZ. Lots of time on the bike in my future. Smile

Thinking about next season, but still 3 months till this years A race!!

For 2011 I think Musselman will be my "A" triathlon, maybe Oceanside 70.3.  Fall will be marathon focused.

Congrats Dylan!

I am debating my next year's race season:
1. Columbia Olympic tri May 2011
2. Eagleman 70.3 June 12, 2011 (just signed up)
3. Musselman HIM July 2011
4. IMAZ or IMCOZ November 2011.

Ooooo IMAZ! Im considering doing that too. I dont know how feel about 2 IM in 1 year (well i actually like it but i wanna make sure my body will like it)....but then again i HATE having just 1 big race that i truely care about a year

I was looking for a nice marathon in Cali to do either this fall or winter. Thanks!

Since I'm on vacation this week and my wife is working I figured I would change my 1/2 IM training program a bit and try to get in 100 miles on the bike this week. It doesn't really fit into my training but it will give me something to do. I already did 24 miles on Sunday so I just have 76 left over the next 5 days. I'm also going to try to get in 15 miles of running and very little swim.

I still have a tri this year on Nov 2nd - Amica 19.7 (modified sprint) and PF Changs Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathon in January 2011. I'm leaning toward Oceanside 70.3 in April and maybe Vineman 70.3 in July.

Since I'm volunteering for IMAZ this year I haven't decided about IMAZ 2011 but I still have some time to think about it. It would be fun if some of us did it in '11.

You live in Monterey right?  I'd do the Big Sur Marathon in a heartbeat, arguably the most scenic in the world...

scratch that, its in May.  Carlsbad is another good one in the winter.

String a few of those 100 mile weeks together and you will get faster.

I know Calimavs and I will be in for IMAZ in 2010,  I'm volunteering this year, so hopefully I'll see you there.

I don't think its a bad idea, for the second you'll have a shorter schedule but you've already done the base so it won't hurt.  Physically, I don't see a problem (other than a ton of suffering), mentally it may be tough.

I can't plan out my schedule until we have 2 things settled in our household; tickets bought to Italy, and a second vacation;  my wife has enough miles for 2 free tickets to go anywhere in the U.S. on the southwest and a weeks stay at certain Hiltons.  We are looking at Washington DC.

I'm looking at several races;  Vineman, Wildflower, California 70.3 and a few local Olys.  I have my 20 week block for IMAZ but before that she gets to make the plans.  There is also a King of the Mountain Series with very hilly centuries I've wanted to do for years.

Do I have to sign up for IMAZ to participate?  Today is our 14th anniversery and I would like to see 15!  Since I promised my wife no destination races in 2011 so we can actually use vacation time to go on vacation (I know, novel concept!) I have decided to find a local fall marathon!!

I am surely enjoying and learning from this group!!
