She is, thanks for asking.  She was stopped at a stop sign, a truck was stopped behind her, then another truck ran into the 2nd truck, which then pushed into her.  Pretty extensive damage to the entire rear of her little mazda 3.  This is the 3rd time in 3 years she has been rear ended and each time she has been completely stopped.  It's good it wasn't her fault so we are not out any money, but it gets old having to deal with the insurance, taking the car in for repairs, and driving a rental car for a week.

Meggan, how has your diet been the past 2 weeks?  Any changes from normal?

So you asked about my diet.  I don't know if I ever told you guys what I am doing.  Back in August my trainer convinced me to go super low carb.  He talked to me about it for a few months before I finally caved.  I did low carb for 12 days and then started carb cycling.  I did low carb Monday through Friday and then moderate healthy carbs on the weekends.  I did that for about 2 1/2 months.  Through November and December, I did moderate carbs and made healthy choices and I lost a big fat NOTHING!!  I maintained just fine but did not lose anything.  January I strictly calorie counted and still nothing.  So, Sunday I started with the low carb again.  I have to decide today what I am doing.  I can't decide between doing the 12 days to start or go right into carb cycling.  Part of me wants to carb cycle because John is working late tomorrow night.  When he works late, I order sushi and have my dinner after the boys are in bed.  I am dying for some good sushi!

Low carb and putting my body into ketosis is not something I could ever have done while running so now is the time to do it.  I have also never shared my weight here before but I really have nothing to hide.  When I started this back in August, I weighed 217 and this morning I was 183.  I still have not picked a true goal weight.  I am 5'10 and everything I see for my height and body frame says my range would be 152-173.  Right now, my plan is to get to 170, take my body fat percentage again, and go from there.  Ideally I would love to be 165 but I am not going to kill myself to get there.

Good for you, that is an awesome weight loss!

So if the low carb thing didn't help you lose weight, why are you thinking about going back on it?  Just curious.  What did you do to get the weight off?

The super low carb is what is working for me.  The moderate/healthy carbs is what I was able to maintain on.  I lost/gained nothing when I was eating moderate healthy carbs.

Well done on the weight loss Meggan, it is tough to do when dealing with a family and their dietary needs as well, since they often don't match up.  Seems like you have found something that works for you and even better is you found something that allows you to maintain as well!  Are you planning on going straight through to the current goal weightloss or rotating through a one month on / two weeks maintain schedule?

I love sushi!

Tim, glad that your wife is okay, I seem to hear a lot about people being rear ended lately.  Ray is still not back to 100% from his rear ender in the fall.  Right now, in our area, the police are doing a blitz campaign on distracted driving, handing out tickets to anyone who is doing anything other than driving their car with due care and attention, I hope it helps.

Spin class: done last night, but changing tonights workout from spin/swim to run/swim since Ray is not well enough to spin tonight.

I plan on doing the 5 days low carb/2 days moderate for at least the next 4 weeks.  I know I can't do it much longer than 6 weeks straight.

Holy moly, Meggan, that is awesome weight loss!  Congrats on that!  I have always been weary of low-carb/no carb diets because me+carbs=Smile, but I'm glad it seems to be working for you.  What types of carbs are in your plan on a regular basis?

T1 - Glad the wife is okay!  How much damage is there to the car?

So, Meggan has inspired me to post my weight here (again) to motivate myself, too.  I'm at 168.8 as of when I weighed myself Tuesday.  Those are going to be my weigh-in days from now on.  I've been restricting myself to under 1500 calories per day, as well.  Once I can REALLY workout again, this should get much easier!

As for my workout plan, mine is quite easy to keep track of for now:  EVERY DAY, I want to "bike" for 30 minutes and walk 1/2 mile.  And do my exercises!  Should I track those on BT?  They seem like such a joke right now!

Happy Thursday!

Never belittle any exercise you do, especially since you are recovering from surgery.  By tracking your "little" workouts, you will be able to see your progress with increasing times/distances  over time and celebrate the milestones.  You are doing awesome and if you keep going as you are, you will be doing that HIM before you know it!

Another track'em vote!  Shoot, 30min on the bike a day times 30 days a month, thats 900min or 15hrs!  It all adds up and if it helps keep you on track and motivated then snaps to Erica!

I really, really don't want to go swim.  Just got a 5mi run in and it is 50 degrees and the pool is outdoors.  Had to come whine on here.  BUT I am going, even if for a little bit.  I soooo would've not gone if I hadn't posted what I am doing this week...thanks Erica.

W - Crash into my bed as soon as the boys fall asleep.  I am exhausted today and sore from my workouts the last two days.

R - Either stairmaster at the gym or a trainer ride.  It all depends if John is home in the evening  Change of plans!  I was able to get to the gym and get a bike in the 6:45 class.  Man, my legs are tired!!

F - Swim after work - And another change of plans.  John is working late so it is either gym after work so the boys can be in Kids Klub or something at home after they go to bed.  Because I have to work Saturday morning and this has been a crazy week, I want to spend the evening with them instead of putting them in Kids Klub.  I might take them out for dinner just me and them.  It will be a trainer ride or a kettlebell workout after they go to bed.

S - As of now, rest day but that might change.  I have to work 8-1ish

Sun - gym - lift and stairmaster

I have nothing past then.  I map out my week on Sundays.

Well done Tim and Meggan.  I unfortunately cannot cross anything from yesterday off, I ended up working last night on something that had a deadline for this morning, but eastern time...so no workouts.

Tonight I'm doing package pickup for the HM on Sunday and then doing a carbo load dinner.  I think my chest/lungs finally cleared up from the cold(it sure has hung around) but Ray now has it, hopefully he doesn't give it back to me.  Next week, I'm definately back on track with my workouts!

My plan for yesterday changed but I had a great night with my boys. I took them to Friendlys for dinner and then we hit the food store. By the time we got home, it was after 8. They fell asleep in our bed watching a movie around 9. I was on the go all day and did not feel like working out. I did 20 minutes of core instead.

After that, I did some prep work for a meal prep workshop I am going to Sunday night. I was planning on doing that today do maybe I can get a workout in today.

So my race didn't quite turn out the way it was planned, but despite the finish time of 2:21, I feel pretty good about the race.  It was my intention to do this race as a training run, but when my friend asked me to help her get a PB, I was more than happy to help out. Unfortunately it was not her day at all, she fell apart midway and despite repeated attempts of trying to make me abandon her, I stuck with her and talked her through finishing the rest of the race, she has done so much for me and supported me so often in life, that is was a no brainer to help her through this.

In other news...after the race I went with Ray to a LBS, because he wanted to test ride a road bike and I knew they had a Women's Slice in my size on sale, I wasn't intending on buying it, but my husband said I should give it a try and before I knew it, I'd plunked down my deposit...http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=14285&photoid=141602 I will be picking her up and bringing her home next weekend!!
