Ugh, 20 miles.  I remember those days.  I have no desire to run that far again.

Race report is up.  You might get a few laughs Tongue out

I just got back from Utah last night.  Overall, a great, memorable trip.  I felt more like a spectator than a competitor at times.  All the big names in XTERRA were present.  Not to mention, at times it was hard to stay focused with helicopters hovering over the swim, flying up wheeler canyon, and film crews popping out all over the course.  At one point on the run course, I had a camera man chasing me on the singletrack.  What a blast.  The area was absolutely beautiful, weather was perfect, and the course was tough!

I'm going to work on a race report later.  I felt I had a good race despite my results.  But, I have to keep reminding myself, this was the best of the best.  The overall winner, Conrad Stoltz, beat me by 65 minutes!  Makes me feel like a pedestrian.

Hey man, great race and congrats on the T2 results! Any secrets you can share? 19mph on a hilly bike course is great!

Hilly courses are tough - I tend to mash the bike too hard as well which leads to a poor run split. Murky water is gross and I also cut my feet on my first sprint where there were tiny sea shells on the bottom of a lake...WTF? Who put those there?

Go sign yourself up for another sprint on a flat course and I'm sure you'll crush it.

This concludes the 2010 Xterra season for me.  I'm really looking forward to doing this race again.  Nationals and Worlds will be two of my goals for 2011!

Nice work Tim. Sounds like a fun race! You have a strong ability to overcome adversity during a race it sounds like, maybe we'll see you on tv! Ha thanks Dave, no I don't have any particular secret method for T2. I take my feet out of the shoes early so I can just jump off at the dismount line, rack the bike, helmet off, shoes on. Grab race belt, visor and water bottle, put all that on while moving to the run out line. Things that shave a lil time: no socks, and I Bodyglide the inside of my Zoots to slip them on quicker.  I'm doing my last race down at Lake Perris on the 16th, we will see how well that one goes.

Ok.....another week I'm looking like a slacker in my logs. Have to put things on hold this week. My mother-in-law passed away yesterday. I'm not so worried about workouts right now. I just need to be with my wife and family. I'll be back strong next month!

I have to report to jury duty today for the first time ever. Should be interesting. I'm kind of hoping I get selected because I'd like to see some courtroom drama, but I don't want to sit around for hours reading a book. Hmm...

The Rock N' Roll half marathon in San Jose is coming up this Sunday. I'm pretty excited because it feels like it has been forever since I've raced, and I've been running my tail off recently so I'm anxious to see how my race legs feel.

Last year I did 1:41:36. This year I'm hoping to set a new PR, and go sub-1:40. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do it, but I know the last few miles won't be easy.

Hi guys... checking in from Klamath, CA.  We are on our annual road trip.  This year we our touring the Pacific Northwest.

Of course, my MTB managed to find itself aboard our motorhome.  I got a chance to ride Paradise Royale this morning, which is a singletrack loop in the King Range National Conservation Area developed by BLM specifically for MTbers.  The trail was featured in Bike Magazine a couple months ago.  It was fun; lots of climbing with some switchbacks and creek crossings, but not very technical.

We're slowly making our way up to the San Juan Islands before turning back home.  I'm hoping to do some more riding near Portland.

137 running miles for last month (5.2 marathons!). Can you believe it's October already? This month should shape up to be even a bigger run month!

Today I'm heading to the Expo to pick up my race packet and check out the vendors. I love the excitement that builds for this race!

Nice dood!  That's a solid month of running!

We had a '4 mile team challenge' at the pool today.  I was shooting for 1600, but something clicked today and I was able to swim two miles before I got too dizzy to keep going.  Big milestone for me, considering I haven't even been able to finish an 800 w/o stopping up to this point.  Toot toot!

Have you guys ever seen LAVA magazine? It mysteriously showed up in my mailbox the other day and I can't put the thing down. It has lots of great material you guys would be interested in:

1. ZIPP Firecrest design
2. Bike travel case article - lots of discussion of various case designs, airport fees vs. UPS fees, etc.
3. Cool article on Shimano Di2 and SRAM R2C shifters
4. KONA pro line-up and predictions
5. 10 or so other articles which are pretty sweet but I won't bore you with the play by play...just go get your hands on one of these damn magazines.

I had a good time at the expo yesterday for SJ RnR. I'm all set to run with the 1:40 pace group. The t-shirts are pretty sweet this year (green, brooks tech t's, not an obnoxious design). I just got back from a 7.6 mile run. I didn't push too hard, just trying to keep the mileage up with week really. The legs felt pretty fresh and I'll be sure to do lots of stretching tonight and tomorrow morning to stay loose. I'm really pumped for this race for some reason...the excitement just keeps building!

I haven't seen said magazine myself, but rumor on BT is that anyone who has registered for an ironman branded race got a free 1 yr subscription to it. Sounds like a good read. Gool luck on your HM!

No official results yet but I think my chip time was ~1:39:10! Clock time was ~1:39:30 and I started in the second corral. I was really pumped coming around that last corner, seeing the clock, knowing I had set a new PR AND gone sub-1:40 with room to spare. Great race, as usual.

Dave, Nice race !!! You've really accomplished a lot this year.

Thanks for the condolences guys. Services are over now and things are winding down. I'm still trying to spend some extra time with the family since there are some ups and downs. But I did wake up early to squeeze in some longer workouts while I could. The kind that took a couple days to recover from. I'm pleased with how my running has progressed and really excited I can now run for 3 hours at a time and get a long workout in with that. I never thought I'd be running 18-19 miles in a clip just for a workout. I've also spent some time honing in my mtb skills.

Well, we've spent the last three days in Seattle.  Tomorrow, we are heading leisurely back to Oregon.  Plan is to visit Mount St. Helens then onto Portland.

My only mandatory to-do on the ay home is to get some time to mtb in the Deschuetes River Valley.
