For some reason all 2s appealed to me today. Was probably amongst the top 3 training days of the year for me. First was nervous about the calf. About 5 miles I went off road and hit some semi technical trails for about 12 miles or so which actually really loosened up the calf, must have broken up whatever knot was in there. Lots of ups and down, no real walking sections save some slippery leaf covered downhills. The leaves covering the roots and divots were fun.

I only fell once, and am super proud of that. Got a nice "badge of honor" on the palm of my hand, and bled for about 5 miles or so. Cruised home at a solid pace, and legs felt good.

Good to hear the calf is feeling better and nice run. I did not realize my daily average was that high, never really thought about it. Your taper will start soon huh and only two more days until the one year mark.

Day695, 8.3 mile run. I am transitioning into a zero drop shoe right now and today was the 4th day in row in them. I went with some Altra brand because of the cushioning they have but I will end up in a more minimalist shoe when the calves and everything are accustomed to the zero drop. Probably after my next 100 miler in February. It is called Sky dive ultra and you jump out of a plane then get out of your jump gear and run 100 miles. They have 50k and 50 mile option too. It is on the 1st of February in Florida.

http://skydiveultra.com/index.html

In case anyone is interested in joining me : )

I don't think I could convince my wife that I would go to Florida in February, jump out of a plane, then run 100 miles. I think she would be ok with the jump out of a plane part, provided I didn't have a parachute.

Sounds like crazy fun, stress on the crazy part.

#364 6.2 recovery miles.

72 days and done. Foiled by a hamstring. Monday I felt it tighten up, Tuesday it said" I'm a Knot . " Iced it all tuesday nite. But Wednesday after wearing a compression wrap all day, was able to get a little over a mile. Same with Thursday and Friday. Kept it slow and steady.

But today, walked the dogs first on the trails, think I overstrided on the walking and than when I went to get my mile on the WWU track (lane 6) just after the half mile mark, scuff my foot and felt the lower hamstring lock up.

So rest days coming up and will restart ASAP. I kept this streak going even with numb feet, 5 tooth extractions, hamstring issues. Need to focus on my core, hamstring strength and build up the mileage....

Day 696, 10 miles.

Imsore, you could always bring her along and run the 50K or 50 miler. My wife is coming along, we'll spend a little better than a week in Florida.

#27 - 14.23 miles.

It was an awesome run.  It started off a beautiful sunny October day (a bit cool, but it is central WI).  A nice front moved through, brought some gusty winds and rain, cold rain.  The sun came out again, warmed up a bit.  Got to run down a road with a double rainbow.  Finished my run just as the sun was about to start setting.

Longest run in a while and I feel great.

Going to have my best total miles for running this month to.  overall looking like a good month!

I am actually considering a 50 miler in Feb/Mar.. I'll most likely do something local though, there are 2 I'm looking at, but its the cold in Feb is daunting. I already have all my time off from work planned for next year, another trip would not be possible. Going to China again and going to Canada in Aug for IMMT. I'll see how the marathon goes. If I hit my goal, and recover well, I'll do the 50M, otherwise, a bit of recovery, and then train hard again for the next marathon that offers a BQ in the area.

#365- 13 miles. 7 miles at LT (Avg 6:51 min/mi). 76.4 miles for the week. Highest weekly total I've ever had to cap off 1 year of running every day. I started on Oct. 21 of last year.

Hope you heal up, and get back soon. In the meantime, enjoy the rest, once you are back who knows when you will get any again!!!!

#366- 8 mi.

Last week before taper, but really feeling the need for a recovery week now. 70+ mpw for 3 weeks straight is a lot for me. Will take it day by day, try to get the key workouts in. Was really tight today, don't want the wheels to come off in the home stretch.

You know your body yhe best and the most important thing is making it to the starting line healthy. You will not lose any fitness by having one extra week of taper, just make sure you keep you intesity up while cutting the miles back.

#85 - 3.82

Got in three runs on the Appalachian Trail this weekend. I never thought I'd say I was happy to get back to road running, but I definitely was this morning. It probably has something to do with the lack of armed individuals who might mistake me or the dog for a deer or a turkey.

Freakin' boo. That sucks. There's nothing wrong with blaming the dogs. It works for me; officially, I haven't farted in almost two years.

#30 - 4.18 miles.  Made the 30 in 30 challenge.  I enjoyed it.  Feeling pretty decent, and am going to carry this on further.  Ran 152 miles in the 30 days my best by far.

Good luck on your 50 miler Lumber Dad hope all goes well!
