Pre-race routine:

got up and got in the car and started driveing. Had prepack my breakfast. Peanut butter and banana buns, Grapes and blueberries.
Event warmup:

did a quick little run to test out the my knee, did some warm up swim laps and stretching.
Swim
  • 28h 51m
  • 1500 meters
  • 1h 55m 24s / 100 meters
Comments:

It was a good swim, I decided to start off at the back and quickly passed people. I took it easy and didn't get out of breathe or go crazy fast. Felt very comfortable and relaxed in the water. Sighting was good but at the end started to drift off a bit.
What would you do differently?:

maybe push myself a little harder.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Was really dizzy and knocked over the bik beside mine. I was all over the place. Time is included in Bike time. Wet suit came off good, heals stuck but just stepped on it and pulled them out. had to stop to get clipped into bike.
What would you do differently?:

don't touch any one elses gear. I felt bad. Should also learn how to mount with shoes already in clips and insert feet after on the road.
Bike
  • 1h 16m 42s
  • 40 kms
  • 31.29 km/hr
Comments:

I will really happy with my bike. got into a groove and kept going, was a crazy fast push but very comforatable and was able to turn it up a couple times. legs did get a little sore on the last lap.
1 bottle of water and 1 bottle of 50% water and 50% gatorade. it was just the right ammount, I had a little left over at the end. Had a Gel at the beginning and then one again on the 4th loop. Time included T1 and T2.
What would you do differently?:

Work on hills a little more and get a better bike
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

got off the bike and ran into T2. racked bike and stripped off helmet put on cap, sat down to put socks and shoes on. Had one last drink of water and was off.
Run
  • 1h 03m 34s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 22s  min/km
Comments:

This is were the game plan fell apart. I could definitely tell that I haven't run much lately. However with concern of even finishing the run because of a bad knee, I was just happy to finish. Considering I have only ran about 3 times the week prior to the event and no running for 5 weeks before that I was glad to just finish. It was a slow slog with many stops to walk. Developed a blister on the bottom of my foot just behind the big toe, I am assuming this is from not running much and not having my feet toughened up.
What would you do differently?:

Not have a bad know and have better running training.
