Goals for 2008, I guess it is almost 2008 isn't it?

Like Terri, my main goal for the holidays is to log - I'm 4 days for 4!  it doesnt' sound like much, but from where I was, it' a major step forward!

I am planning for sure on doing the HyVee tri in June 2008.  I did it last year and want to see my improvement.  Beyond that, well, there's a lot I need to sort out career wise before I commit to anything.

Greg, I know how you feel about the rest days, I used to feel the same way - I have come to enjoy them now, and I know they are an imporant part of the process.  It's odd, but if you skip a scheduled rest day, you really are cheating yourself

I totally love my DVR - I really didn't think I would use it but all I have to say is

tivo

LOVE the TiVo!  It turns a 2-hour Biggest Loser into a 45 minute show, which is a great timesaver.  No munching during the commercials b/c I'm too busy fast forwarding through them, and I never forget to record my favorite shows since I have a "season pass" for all of them.

Laurie - great way to rationalize the TIVO/DVR - no commercials = no runs to the snack cabinet or refrigerator!

You should try and sell that to the manufacturers as a commercial idea!

That is a great rationalization!  I'm surprised I hadn't thought of that before - LOL

Howdy everyone! Sorry I was MIA the first of the week. I had a vacation day and a CRAZY tuesday!!! I have updated the log and attached it here.

CONGRATS to everyone and the losses this past week!!! Congrats on the non weight related victories as well! I am also doing well with the journaling! Hopefully I will make some WI progress this week as well. This 20 points a day is for the BIRDS!! How anyone does this all the time is beyond me but I guess you get used to it.

I feel your furniture moving pains Terri. We got new furniture, and tv this weekend also. My house is still not put back together but it will get there before christmas, cause there is no other choice LOL.

As for my goals in 08' I plan on doing 2 half marathons in January and then it is tri training time. I want to do an oly in the end of spring or beginning of fall. Just depends on the race and my work schedule so I can train properly. Other than that I am planning on doing lots of 5 and 10Ks to keep on my toes so to speak. I will probably do a few sprints also in the spring as I am training to gauge myself. I have a spreadsheet of all the races I want to do but I am sure that is TMI lol.

Have a great day everyone! Jana

hey everybody - not a great day today - during the night, my stomach started acting up...

I've got recurring problem - either diverticulitis or IBS - either way I get REALLY constant painful spasms in my lower colon area - doubles me over for a day or two...

so right now it's full force - probably going to head home and lay flat...

so obviously won't get a workout in today but still logging meals...

everybody have a great day!

Greg, I'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Gentle hugs.

Well, here's my confession for the week Beth, that little guy you couldn't see in my log was a running Mickey. We went to Disneyland yesterday. I walked enough to "earn" 4 APs and let me tell you I ate every single one of them, plus my WPs and my DPs DH and I try to go to Disneyland every year, just the 2 of us, and we have a blast. Last year I was facing major surgery so we went 2 days before that. It was a blast and we decided to switch our Disneyland treck to this time of year every year.

All the holiday stuff is out and the lights are more beautiful that ever. Plus it's in the middle of the week, so people are in school and at work and the crowds are minimal. I think the longest we were told we'd have to stand in line was 20 minutes, but I don't think we were very in line that long.

As to the food, well, ummm, it was good. Every bite! LOL We make reservations at Blue Bayou for lunch and Ralph Brennan's for dinner. Both were absolutely scrumptious, of course, and I cannot even begin to imagine how many points! The other food I had throughout the day was 1/2 a banana, 2 bits of DH's pineapple whip, 1 sugar cookie, and 1 Mickey Mouse ice cream (eskimo pie?). Normally I hit the candy store and bring stuff home with me, but this year I decided that I'd eat whatever I'd eat at the park, and nothing would come home. I had such a good time shopping and walking and riding, that I forgot to get myself a piece of fudge!

So for today through Saturday I have only my daily points and whatever activity points I earn to eat. I'm determined to stick on plan.

Oh, and my new dining suit is to be delivered today. We don't like the way our furniture is arranged in the dining area but will wait until the table is set to rearrange. DH's new office area looks very nice. I think we're TV buying this weekend and we'll be rearranging some more in our living area. Whew! still lots of work ahead, because I decided to go ahead and put up my small tree in the living area after we get that rearranged.

Greg - I hope you feel better soon

this week feels like the slowest week EVER!  I did spin last night and it whooped my butt.  I'm getting better about logging workouts too, which will be a good way to look back later.

hope everyone is having an awesome day!

Hello people.

I haven't posted on this thread in quite awhile...sorry, life just gets all over and my focus shifts.

I have my personal mojo back...I'm been training relatively consistently and my food has been decent.  I weighed myself at the gym this am and I was back to my lowest weight.  That was a nice number to see.  I'm hoping it will stick for my WI on Saturday.

I'll try to be a bit more consistent with posting.  My goal over the holidays is to not gain the 10 lbs I've gained over the past couple holiday seasons.

happy friday girls...

I have to head out to a meeting... but I weighed in at 214.6... I believe I lost about a pound from last week - not sure what I weighed in at last week..

Again though, I have to take it with a grain of salt... when this little stomach problem hits me, I don't eat alot, but I do snack a little on smaller things...

cookies, pretzels, tablespoon (or two) of ice cream...

so hopefully I can maybe continue and lose something next week and weigh in without an asterisk next to my numbers!!!!

talk to you later - have a nice day today - it's FRIDAY!

Congrats on your loss Jana!

DH told me last night that he gained 3 pounds overnight after all the eating he did at Disneyland. Makes me a bit nervous, but I know I didn't eat as much as he did, and I made some better choices, but still. LOL Of course all he has to do is blink and flex and he loses a pound. Sigh.

Had an okay swim last night. Tonight it's back on the treadmill. Gotta keep earning those APs everyday, but I'm not eating them, since I figure I already did on Wednesday.

Journaling everyone?

I know I have been MIA but with my PC down last week and then recovering data this week, it's the first chance I've had to get on.

Great job on the losses, logging and trying! The fact that you're trying puts you miles ahead of everyone else.

MrsUSMC - regarding the 3 pounds DH gained. Remember that it is not all weight. There are 3,500 calories in 1 pound, so he would have had to eaten an extra 7,500 calories. While it is possilbe, it's not likely, even at Disneyland.

For everyone tracking and running out of Points, consider this; remember the 8 Good Health Guidelines?

6 8 oz glasses of water 0 points
limit sugar and alcohol 0 points
multivitamin 0 points
5 fruits and veggies 2 points fruit, 0 for veggies
protein (2 servings 3 oz each) 6 points
grains (2 servins 3 pts each) 4 points
dairy (2 servings 2 pts each) 4 points
healthy oils (2 svgs 1 pts each) 2 points

The minimum # of points anyone would get is 18. Guess what the good health guidelines add up to 18 points. Try aiming for 18 points for the guidelines and use the allowance points for "extra".

Wow, great job Peggy!

Had my WI on Friday, and I was down 4 lbs.  Not sure where that came from, since I haven't really worked out since my 10K on Sunday.  I have been drinking water by the GALLON though, so that always helps me.  Now down to 186, which is where I was at the beginning of November before all H$LL broke loose and stress level went way up.  Coming back down to earth now.

Have a great weekend, everyone!  Laurie
