Welcome to COS!  I live up in Woodland park.  If you want to swim with a masters group, look up CSST swim team.  We swim at Colorado College downtown M/W/F/Sat.  Great group of people for all abilities.

Yeah, the mountains are a challenge.  Living up in the hills, every bike and ride I do is a hill workout!  There is a great ride that I do up here.  From Woodland Park, ride out Hwy 67 north to Deckers.  Nice scenery, some good climbs, and very little traffic!

Congrats on IMAZ!  That's awesome!

Welcome to the COS! Check out the Pikes Peak Triathlon club! We usually have group runs on Saturday and group rides on Sundays. But lots of other stuff going on as well.

Welcome!

The Air Force Academy is a great place to bike with minimal traffic.  You can park outside the south gate and ride your bike in.  The guards should let you through with a picture ID.  I use to work at Schriever AFB (way way east) and there are some nice country roads to bike but be mindful of the wind! Black Forest is a nice ride too!

There's a lot of groups that get together to ride/run etc...google all of these: The Incline Club, Garden of the Gods Training Runs. Each of the running stores also has group runs.

Enjoy!

Hey IMGary,
Welcome to 2008's "Fittest City in America"- Men's Health Magazine.
http://www.gazette.com/articles/city_32862___article.html/running_f...

I second the groups already mentioned, both the Incline Club and Garden of the Gods Training runs are for folks of all abilities and are "everyone welcome" "just show up, sign in, and go". GOG Training is Tues and Thurs mornings at 6am in Garden of the Gods, with multiple groups for different speeds, all done by 7am. They will also have 10-mile self-supported practice runs for the GOG 10mile (June 8th) on Saturdays May 17th and May 24th. The incline club is geared toward training for the Pikes Peak Ascent (which has sold out in as little as 9minutes) and Marathon, and they Trail run on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.

A few Clubs not yet mentioned include
The Colorado Springs Cycling Club which has great Group fitness rides on Saturdays at 9am, and again Sundays at 1pm. Check 'em out at

Pikes Peak Road Runners, which hosts numerous runs and events.

Jack Quinn's Running Club, which runs a 5k on Tues evenings at 6pm and had 508 at their last run on Tuesday 4-29. Hey, Free appetizer buffet every Tuesday, and Free JQ Running Club T-shirt on your 10th Attendance!

Also, let me point out 2 area races.
The Harvest Moon HIM is a perfect 10 weeks out from IMAZ up in Aurora, and could serve as a great springboard event to test all your strategies from Taper to Nutrition.

It's put on by RacingUndergroud, which also times a very cool event, My Way or the Tri Way, held in late July, which is a Sprint Distance Tri in an order, or ANY TWO (like Swim-Run-Swim or you name it) in alternating order.

My wife works some weekends so I'm with the Baby but I'll PM you soon about some training... just FYI I'm told it's a perfect 112 miles from the Safeway on South 115 through Canyon City to Royal Gorge and back!

I'll be there Friday too. Meeting new members is always nice. I've been a member since my first tri back in 2001. The club has all types of athletes - from amazingly fast pros to people just starting out. See you on Friday!
