I won the Salsa Vaya  in a Tour de France contest... pretty cool huh?  I already have 2 bikes - my first bike is a Ti frame with a Tri cockpit... I bought it from the classifieds here.. it's an AWESOME bike, but it's a bit big for me (according to my bike fitter) and I wanted to get more into road bike riding - do more group rides and do century rides, so I bought a FELT ZW2... I've been riding the FELT on all of my rides, and my Ti frame is sitting on my trainer collecting dust - but I'll never sell that bike!

Now, I won a 3rd bike... I'm probably going to move to the East Coast, would the Vaya bike be good in winter weather for commuting?

What would you do? Would you just sell it? or keep it?

That is so cool!  I'd probably keep it.  You can never have too many bikes, right?  Congrats!

i'd sell the bike you won and the tri bike that's too big and get a nice new bike that fits you well.

if you are getting it from a bike shop directly, I would ask for store credit instead and apply the credit toward a new Tri Bike... or gear.

Or perhaps donate it to a local school for a kid to use based on:

1. Financial need
2. Academic achievement
3. Continued participation in bicycling and/or triathlon events

Just a thought.

Agreed.  It doesn't really look like a setup that you are going to use for century rides or tris, so it will probably not be a tool you will use a lot.  Get the right tool for the job and sell this one if you can't get store credit.
Congrats on winning a big ticket item!

Congrat!! It nice to here that somebody actually wins something these things

It looks like a great commuter bike. It is built for wide tires and it has disc brakes that work well in wet weather. If you are planning on commuting, I would keep it and save your Felt.

Number of bikes a person should have = N + 1

(N) is the Number of bikes you currently have

No, they ship it to my LBS, and there aren't any dealers in my area, so I'd have to take the bike as is...  I'm leaning towards using it as a commuter bike to ride winter months instead of my good FELT road bike... but, if it's still too big for me - which is possible, I may just sell it...

I dont want to vote as I am torn between the qualities of these options:

Keep it if you want to remember the event, have a need of it, or just like bikes in general.

Give it to someone in need to get the Karma points.  To get maximum points, tho, you cant TELL anyone that you did that.

Sell it to get a different bike.

Do I lose Karma points to say that I already give a lot to charities? I rode my first Century Ride with Team in Training, and donated to them too... I'll be doing a LiveStrong ride this year, and possibly the MS 150...

If I sell the bike, the money would go to bills, moving expenses, etc... I would keep it before I gave it to a Charity... I may lend it out if someone needed one... even for a full season... I have offered for others to use my Tri bike... nobody has had to take me up on that yet, but it's there if someone needed a ride...

This.

And, if you aren't certain it will fit you, get it in the XS to try it.  If it doesn't fit, you can still sell it.  Speaking from experience, there is NEVER any difficulty selling small bikes.  They are usually hard to come by, so selling one is a piece of cake.

Looks like a sweet touring bike.

I think I would keep it. It definately would make a fine commuter.

As others have said, you can never have enough bikes (I have five and counting)...

Not sure to where on the east coast you're moving, but if it's to a place that actually has a winter and you're serious about commuting through it, you're not going to want to do it on your "nice" bikes.

Road salt and crashes take a heavy toll on your bike. After my first full season of winter commuting my mountain bike looked like it had been through the wringer. I wound up hanging it on the wall until the next winter and buying another commuter for the summer months.

That being said, there's nothing quite like rolling up to the office through the snow drifts when it's -15 F as everyone else is cursing having to walk from the parking lot to the front door. The look on their faces is priceless.
