If you'll have a buckeye I'll come have a drink with you. I'm rather sure the formerly abused bottles of Oban, Macallan, Lagavulin, and Balvenie will come flowing into the house any day now ![]() Since moving here a few years ago I've heard about this animosity between OSU fans and UM fans but frankly a scotch aficionado only cares about one distinction: do you drink neat, or on the rocks? |

Any good alternatives without the sticker shock? I usually have it w/ one or two ice cubes, and only from my special waterford crystal single malt sippin' cup ![]() The Macallan Cask Strength (the red box) is very nice and pretty economical since you need to dilute it for drinking. I'm probably running Philly 3 weeks later too, so there will be a 2-day carousing window between those 2 events. Training is hard work and sacrifice You know where to find me. |

OK, I admit to busting the training regimen last night. I did a 20-miler that morning so that's how I justify my actions. I was hanging out on my friends roof deck looking out at the city with a Macallan's 18 and a Montecristo 75th anniversary. Eminently justified |

Runner | ![]() From personal experience, scotch is not the best idea if imbibed before running. Beer works well on the course, however. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Whiskey stones! My wife was good enough to gift me with these a few birthdays ago. Stone cubes that you keep in the freezer and drop in your dram if you'd like it chilled but don't want to affect the taste. I use them with some of my bottles. Others get regular ice cubes, the rest neat. My brother-in-law is cracking open his bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue for me on Nov. 6th after I finish the NYC marathon. Talk about something to keep you going through the finish! |

IMO, chilling always affects the taste (negatively), because you effectively "lock up" the aromas. Diluting with water OTOH often enhances the taste, because it "frees" the aromas that are otherwise hidden behind the alcohol taste. |
