26 is still closed, but it is closed at Dixon rd which is where the race site is located, you can take 26 to dixon turn left and it will take you straight to the church on the left side about a 1/2 mile done, see you there.

What is your strategy for tapering for Steelhead, particularly since you have this sprint this weekend? Just curious, since I have little experience and HIM lurking in just over a week.

I will probably run easy Sunday 6-10 miles, Monday swim OWS about 1.5 miles easy, I'll ride with the bike club Tuesday 25 miles, easy 4 miles Wed. Thurs and Friday I most likely won't do anything. This could change depending on how I feel, if tired I'll cut down the mileage.

Yeah, I have never done anything like this before so did not know how people tapered. I appreciate your insight/experience.

water is still 83 and yes there will be a detour about 1 mile from Dixon where the race site is from 26, take county road 100 north one mile turn left go one mile to 4 way stop take left and on top of the hill will be the entrance to Oakbrook church

Are the results going to be posted somewhere?

Great first year race!  My mom and I had a blast- we both came home with 1st AG awards, so we were happy.   Got a little hot on that run but otherwise a very nice morning!

Excellent job on your first crack as a RD, who knows we may have IronMan Kokomo in a few years! Only suggestion would be to add another buoy at the starting portion of the swim. We were all taking a sharp angle to the first buoy, and it was very tight at the turn. If the first turn was squared off a little that would smooth it out.

Thanks, I'm glad everyone had a good time, I have to say the BT'er took home most of the hardware congrats on your races. We will re -work the swim portion a little for next year I can see some room for improvement. The results we be posted Monday, I'm trying to get them e-mailed to me and if so I will see that all of you get the results. I was pleased with our first crack at it I think it went off better than I pictured. We only had 4 months to put this together and now that we have a whole year to make it even better next year should be awesome. Thanks for all you who came and raced you made it a great event.

This stinks, the timing company just told us that he had battery problems with that mats in T1,he only got the swim split and the finish time. This is very upsetting, I was not happy with the elastic straps either, he said he is going back to the neoprene straps next year, but we paid him mainly so we could have all the splits, I will e-mail you the swim splits and total time results shortly.

Thanks to everyone who made it out. RPM and I were glad to see so many people who were able to make it to the 1st Kokomo TRI. It was alot of work, but to see everyone race on a course that we designed was an absolute BLAST! Congrats to those who one an award or PR'd.
There were a few issues that RPM and I are going to review in the coming weeks to make a game plan for next year and we apologize for the chip timing fiasco both the new chip strap he tried as well as the T1/T2 exit times that he was not able to capture, that really sucked and if there was anything the RPM and I could do we would do it.
RPM and I have been training and racing together for the last couple of years and trained for the Ironman together on the waters of Emerald Lake all last year. We both knew that the water and area would be an excellent venue for a TRI. Our combined experince of about 15 years and our vision for what we wanted in a TRI really came to light on saturday. Thanks to all of you for making it happen.

See you all at Cicero I hope....
RPM-good job on directing the TRI, lookin forward to doing it again with you next year

Thank you guys for taking the time to give back to the community. I know that organizing such an event is not at all trivial. You guys did great and I look forward to next year's event.

I just want to say for a small town tri, this was really well done!!  I would like to give my two cents for next year's...

1.  Move the water stations in the run, just too far apart, really needed before the mile and two mile Laughing

2.   Clear signs for the bike turns, had one guy never show me the way until I actually was at the corner and had to brake, complete stop, was not fun.

But thats all I have, the swim was great could even be longer.  The bike trail was nice, and the run was hilly and hard.  I hope I can do it again next year.  Try to plan in the same weekend of the Brickyard, and I will be there for sure!!

Any posted results you have would be great to see.
