Artist says to rest until the tat stops hurting to the touch, which should be a day or two. I was planning to take a long walk today, but it is COLD and WINDY out there, so maybe I'll just stay in my warm house and relax. I can't even open it in Windows without buying a plug-in. I save my iPhone photos as .jpeg. |

Hard day on the bike today, with 64 minutes total mostly in Z3 so just an exercise in concentration. The Plan isn't trying to kill me yet, but I can tell it's circling. |

I think the real answer comes down to what is a specific workout trying to achieve, and how does that fit in with what you're training for, and where are you in your season/training plan. i.e. 6 weeks out from an Ironman, your long bike/run brick is pretty key. For me this week, it's getting at least 2 PT workouts in, and they involve an easy-ish ride before as a warm up. And my long ride tonight, which was a pretty brutal mixed interval ride, with 2 x 20 at 95%FTP and 10 x 1 @ 110% FTP. That's going to drive a lot more fitness gains than 60 minutes Z2 riding which is one of the missing workouts. |

No pain no gain right? @Gretchen, My computer doesn't like apple images either @Nat, Definitely need strength work. I'm 100% up for another challenge, but at the moment my PT stuff is taking up so much time I'm not sure about adding more. My next review is mid December, maybe after that we can set up a new year, new me type strength challenge again, like we did earlier in the year? @Me. As I'm going to be out of town working on Sunday, I took Friday off to try and finish up sorting the post landscaping mess. A pretty productive day, got through so much I'm not going to have all day Saturday working. So happy days. I also made it to the pool again, a bit more of a real swim workout this time, 1,500m, and every interval under the magic 2:00/100m so considering how cr@p I've been at getting to the pool I'm quite pleased with that, I'm in a reasonably good place to launch into it over the next few weeks. I also did my long ride, as alluded to above. A bit of an intimidating workout looking at it in training peaks. And although I was off the aero bars earlier than I would have liked very happy with how it went. A busy day tomorrow with family stuff, am run and pm ride. And then of course Sunday trying to make a machine go. Fun times. Have a good weekend all. |

I did, but then that was rest day Sunday so, of course I spent five hours taking leaves and another four hours working and three hours standing on my feet meal prepping for the week. Of course I did. Anyway, fun little 35’ fast finish run (5’ Z1, 25’ Z2, 5’Z3) with the Purl. I leave Friday for Egypt, so I have to enjoy these runs with her while I can. Next week I’ll get to “enjoy” runs with two packs of feral dogs. |

That HURT. I was a tad slower than the week before but I had just done a strength training session the day before. They did their protocol a little differently, and I would have like to have been more warmed up before the all-out 200 (then after about 10-15 minutes we did a 500). Came home and labored through about 40 minutes on the treadmill. Sunday we had over 30 people here so bailed on my long ride to get ready (first missed workout on The Plan so far). |

Regular 1779 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN A very disrupted week 9 of Ironman training complete. Kind of. Work/travel very much won this week. Both directly taking away training opportunities, and causing so much extra fatuige rest and recovery was needed when I got home. In the end I managed, Swim, x1, 1,500m, 37min Bike, x3, 4hr 30min Run, x2, 2hr 13 min Strength, x3, 1hr 5 min, 2 x physio ,1 x stretch. So a total of about 8 1/2 hours of workouts, and 3 days of nothing. So the 4 active days were hit pretty hard. Highlights of the week, my best swim in months. Longest swim, and felt great. Winning all around. And my long ride. As described previously 2 hours of hard intervals. Shattered afterwards but very satisfying. And reassuring that I could complete such a hard workout. This week, is going to be another compromised week. Mrs BF and I are off tomorrow for 4 days for our anniversary. I'll be bringing my running shoes, but training isn't going to be the focus. Have a good week team. |
