![]() Swim
Comments: First open water/race swim since 2017...felt great! there was a good current to fight 75% of the swim..its one of those things in open water ocean/bay swims you just roll with...swim technique doesnt change..my goal was to get out front and settle into my pace and enjoy it and I feel I executed it just right. sighting was spot on..i was swimming really straight so only sighted about every 45sec to a minute to save energy...felt really good coming out of the water. What would you do differently?: started further up in front to not have to navigate and pass as many people ![]() Transition 1
Comments: fast T1 for me...everything was set up just like i left it...grab and go What would you do differently?: grabbed a Gel for the ride ![]() Bike
Comments: i pushed harded than i had planned...i am always conservative on the bike to set up for a good run..i felt good and pushed a little harder than planned..i paid for it a little on the run but overall was a good ride. What would you do differently?: i planned and measured out my EFS sports drink for the ride into 3 segments. drank my last 1/3rd about 5 min before getting off the bike...i felt that the first part of the run.. should have fueled earlier in the ride and not taken in any fluids the last 15min. i know its a sprint and fueling isnt as crucial as longer distances...i have always fueled in 15min intervals in the past and it has worked. just keeping the routine going and keeping my plan intact for longer races ahead. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: good T2 came out of shoes about 1/2 mile from the finish and bumped up the cadence to spin the legs and get ready for the run...stood up and dismounted on the left side as usual right at the dismount line.. worked out perfect. What would you do differently?: not drank fluids so late in the ride ![]() Run
Comments: Im always itching to get off the bike and get on with the run..i pushed hard (for me at this point in my training) on the bike and felt it at the beginning of the run but it wasnt terrible..this run felt way better than last month at the Woodlands Sprint...i wasnt faster but felt better and thats what matters to me at this point. setlled into about a 10min/mile pace and kept HR about 170...only walked water stations to mainly pour water on me to keep cooll..was prob pushing 90 degrees on the run but thats what i like..all in all a good run What would you do differently?: drank more electrolytes at aid stations...just 1 cup would have helped i think ...felt it the last mile ![]() Post race
Warm down: walked around and stretched What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing really...been back in training for 3 months and really working on run base. swimming is going good and ive been strength training which ive really noticed is making a difference...i rarely ride my bike so ive got to get on it more.... Event comments: I placed 3rd in my Age Group so i was super happy about that! Havent place in my AG since 2011 so its good to be back! this is just the beginning again...alot more training and racing ahead! Last updated: 2025-05-11 12:00 AM
