hee hee.  that's great.  They're still probably trying to figure out the amount.  Although e raised to 2*pi is a lot, isn't it?  it's like over $600.  my math major days are behind me...

I believe that is e ^ i*pi

You think verizon is bad, try dealing with ATT.  I was on the phone yesterday for an hour with a tier 2 tech with our sales rep conferenced in trying to get them to send a tech out to a remote site to diagnose and repair a managed router.  Now we pay ATT extra money to manage this router, so that if something does go wrong, it's their job to fix it...  Apparently in ATT speak, this means that when it does break, we send (and pay for) the tech to go onsite and call ATT to troubleshoot, then wait for ATT to ship us the new part so we can send (and pay) the tech back out to replace it.  The whole time a 100 user base network has to run off a 3M DSL failover.  It was sort of worth it to her the sales rep yelling at the tech.

This is unreal.

I just spent 20 more mins. on the phone with Verizon, trying to cancel my Internet and TV.  The system has my account in "final status" but it is not allowing that rep, or any other, to cancel the service.

So, she has escalated my request to an "IT manager" and says she should hear something back by tomorrow, at which point she will call me.

My old boss used to say "If you don't laugh, you cry."  So I am laughing.

I strongly suggest you to report this to the BBB.  And make sure the Verizon people know.

don't wait until tomorrow.  Call them back, get and agent and request an 'IT manager'.  They will try and pull the "I can't do that, can I help you?" bs.  Say "no, I need to speak to an IT manager".  No matter what they say, insist on speaking to a manager until they transfer you to one.

This is EXACTLY the problem I had. They were trying to bill us $100 for a data router that we returned and had a receipt for, but couldn't change that in my account because it was FINAL STATUS. It actually went and hit our credit rating - our only blemish when applying for a mortgage 3 months ago.

They also couldn't send us the bill at our new address because it was in "final status". We still owed them money for something, but wouldn't pay off an incorrect invoice. I said "send me a corrected bill and I will pay it." They were incapable of doing that.

I had the same exact problem with Verizon when we moved from MA to VA. Then, trying to go disconnect from Verizon to Comcast. I finally got it resolved by a class mate who was a manager for Verizon.

does this classmate still work for verizon? b/c i just got a bill in the mail for aug-sept for our DSL account which was supposed to have been closed in mid-july when we moved out. idiots.

so now that's two verizon DSL accounts fubar, the one they shouldn't have closed in the first place and tacked on an unreturned equipment fee, and the one they opened after that and should have closed a month ago

idiots.

I personally had pretty good luck with Verizon.  My current Internet provider iritated me about a week ago though.  My wife go a new computer for work and we needed to set up her wireless access at our house.  I call to ask them how to get my password which I did about a month prior when we bought a new computer for home use.  Well, after a few minutes on hold the rep put me on hold and comes back and said someone would have to call me back as the Wireless Internet department was closed, wtf?  You would think everyone woudl be able to help with this.  I ask to speak to a manager who tells me the same thing, "our department does not handl this".  This was just crazy, apparently you can only get your password during normal business hours.  This is such an easy process you would think they would train anyone.

I think the problem with most customer service lines is they are trained to follow specific rules.  They don't deviate at all from their scripts.

Oh, and I rarely yell at the rep on the phone as they are only following orders.  I think yelling at people (no matter how stupid they seem) is rude.  Also, threatening to cancle IMO is really pointless, I don't think they really care about my $50 a month that badly.  Just my opinion though.

NL, I learned a shortcut to fix all my problems with Verizon, Comcast and such... if they can't resolve my issue using normal means I call again and ask them to connect me to a supervisor to open an "executive complaint" (use exact wording). They know what it is and they have to avoid it by all means.I guarantee your issue will be solved. I hate Verizon with all my heart and soul. I 've used Vonage VoIP for over 4 years and could not be happier.
