I'm rather sure the formerly abused bottles of Oban, Macallan, Lagavulin, and Balvenie will come flowing into the house any day now And you're welcome to come to the north and enjoy!

Since moving here a few years ago I've heard about this animosity between OSU fans and UM fans but frankly a scotch aficionado only cares about one distinction: do you drink neat, or on the rocks?

The Macallan Cask Strength (the red box) is very nice and pretty economical since you need to dilute it for drinking.

OK, but I'm on a semi scotch-and-cigar limited diet until October 30th when I run the Marine Corps marathon. I'm probably running Philly 3 weeks later too, so there will be a 2-day carousing window between those 2 events. Training is hard work and sacrifice

OK, I admit to busting the training regimen last night. I did a 20-miler that morning so that's how I justify my actions. I was hanging out on my friends roof deck looking out at the city with a Macallan's 18 and a Montecristo 75th anniversary. Eminently justified

Whiskey stones!  My wife was good enough to gift me with these a few birthdays ago.  Stone cubes that you keep in the freezer and drop in your dram if you'd like it chilled but don't want to affect the taste.  I use them with some of my bottles.  Others get regular ice cubes, the rest neat.

My brother-in-law is cracking open his bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue for me on Nov. 6th after I finish the NYC marathon.  Talk about something to keep you going through the finish!

IMO, chilling always affects the taste (negatively), because you effectively "lock up" the aromas. Diluting with water OTOH often enhances the taste, because it "frees" the aromas that are otherwise hidden behind the alcohol taste.
