Swimming with a snorkel? (Page 2)

OK here is the scoop on snorkels. My masters swim coach has his masters swimmers use them all the time, it aids in working on your stroke but he uses them as a way to hypocsick (sp?) swim. I know this because I do not own one and when we do the sets he has me swim and breath every 5th stroke to get the same effect.
He coached Summer Sanders when she was a pro, so I assume he knows what he is talking about.

I say do what you want, who cares if you look stupid. If it helps you feel comfortable in the water then do it. 
Yes they are legal in USAT events.

I will try to find the article but there is a pro IM athlete who used to train with a snorkle on the bike to limit the air to his lungs....
