Comments: Not a very good swim; a minute down on last time. Legs felt tired relatively early on and I did not have the strength to go any faster. I may have still had the remnants of the previous week's illness in my system but think it more likely that I simply don't train enough any more to be a swimmer as well as a triathlete. On the plus side I paced the swim quite well, my stroke was ok and my turns were good. I also kept my focus. What would you do differently?: I think I can only improve through swimming more frequently, which will adversely impact on other training (at least during base period). But making sure I do attend all the sessions I can make will help. Post race
Warm down: 200 metres in warm-up pool. Had shower, put on warm clothes and had packet of raisins as post swim snack. What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited training. Last updated: 2004-10-22 12:00 AM

Swam 400 to get feel of water. Put on dry suit and had banana and one third strength Gatorade. Did mental run-through of swim and then watched rest of earlier heats.
