Event warmup:

10 Mins gentle run & stretching.
Run
  • 14m 8s
  • 4 kms
  • 03m 32s  min/km
Comments:

Hard, but I concentrated well - mostly kept gap to runner in front. Tried to keep up with Dave Macdonald, found that too hard so settled on trailing Graham Coull instead!
What would you do differently?:

Do more run training!
Transition 1
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Fingers too cold to fasten helmet quickly.
Real trouble getting moving with feet on top of shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Don't start with shoes clipped in on uphill start.
Bike
  • 34m
  • 20 kms
  • 35.29 km/hr
Comments:

Caught 22 riders! Tussle with John Lunn for 3rd place as he fought back (twice) on climb to telly mast. Only managed to drop him on the last straight before Monikie.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Event comments:

Good traditional lean-your-bike-against-a-tree grass roots event.
Run-Bike is a perfect race format for me!

Hi there.

Yeah! I'm well pleased with the result - especially as this was my first multisport race all year... I've been way too busy with work and kids recently (youngest has her first birthday tomorrow).

This marks the start of my 2005 campaign to get back into Triathlon after a 2 year layoff!

Cheers, Andy

Well done Andy, must be quite something to hold off John.

The race must have taken it's toll as John took the Wednesday training session (time trial) in his jeans. Graham was a no show but Dave McDonald still appeared and put in a ridiculously fast time.
I look forward to seeing your back disappear into the distance sometime soon.

David
