I am going to be signing up for the Spring Fling Tri in Lowell on May25th. I like the venue since it is close to home, and shares a bunch of the course with the Mill City Tri. With JCC and Sudbury sold out, or close to it, I will be in Lowell for my first tri this year. Anyone else interested?

let me see if I can talk AdCo into it.    I'm interested, but he's in charge of reasonableness and life balance.

This will be my very first tri. I'm going to do the Fantastic Nantasket sprint in September, but I wanted to find one with a pool swim for my first one. I figure I'll have enough newness with doing all the transitions in a race situation for the first time. With any luck, this experience will allow me to concentrate on my first-OWS-triathlon panic in isolation.

I'm (obviously) new to triathlon, and also to BT. I'll be the one with eyes as big as dinner plates, trying to look convincing in my red Zoot tri-suit. Red is the fastest color, right? My ungainly swimming technique and hybrid bike will further mark me as a solid noob. But, I'm hoping I'll be able to look back on it someday and think, "From such humble beginnings!"

My daughter is on the fence for this to be her first kids tri. I hope she will do it for I know she can.

Tri Bob, I have not done this race, but have raced with this RD before, and I am sure you will have a good time. The best part is based on past races with this director has been small but loyal fields.

No newbie is a noob. As long as you have a reliable and safe bike, show up with a helmet that fits and sneekers and a swim suit/tri suit, you will be just fine. heck, I did my first race with a Pan Mass cycling jersey and my first pair of tri shorts. We use what we have, and update as finances and neccecity requires.

hope to see you there. What I wear will depend on what I have for gear by then, will see.

It's just over a week away, and I'm completely wigged out. Real life has definitely been getting in the way of training. This is my very first tri, so I'm not looking for a competitive time, or any target time at all. I'm just trying to finish it, and get a feel for the transitions.

Any advice on maintaining sanity?

Yeah. Embrace the anxiety. If you keep it at an even level it will be your friend. It will fuel you and keep you sharp. Let it get out of hand and it can paralyze you. Your choice, bro, but either way you cannot prevent it so use it to your advantage.

Best advice I have is remember to breath. Relax and have fun. Lay out your transition in your head. Ask questions. Get to know people. Most of all have fun. That is why we do it. As for finsihing, go at a pace that is comfortable and do not worry if you are passing or being passed. This race will be over before you know it and you will be able to add "triathlete" to your letter head.

Side note, I will be wearing a mix of BT and team Trifury gear at the race. Feel free to stop me as long as I am not racing. I to am hopping to just have fun at this race, but until my bike is set up and transition is cool, I can be a little hyperfocused. just a little competitve against myself I guess

 Enjoy the race

And I'll be the slower one on the Trek hybrid. I'll also undoubtedly be confused, so I'll be looking for all the help and guidance I can get.

I'll be a late swim starter, gang, in a red Zoot tri-suit and an orange (yes, orange) swim cap. If you see me, please help me make sure I'm not hyperventilating. I'm not as freaked out as I was last week, since I've done several 250m swims recently. Even better, I don't feel like I've been beaten with sticks after that distance anymore, which is a long way from flailing through 1.5 lengths a couple of months ago.

See you there!

Hey all, I will be jockstraping with either my parents or my dog, possibly both, not sure yet.  Possibly neither .  Anyway, I will probably be wearing my orange Boise state hat - mostly so people can see me and fine me.  Introduce yourself to me, if I decide to wear something else, I'll post.  Chances are I'll wear something orange, or possibly my bright golden yellow sneaks

I hope I'm as ready as you feel!

Actually, the last couple of days I've been completely energized after my workouts, so I'm probably as ready as I'm going to be. This is the first one, so here's hoping.

Good luck, all.
