Anyone planning on doing this race? I've heard good things about it. What's the bike course like? Let's start talking and maybe we can meet up at the race...

I haven't registered but I'm considering.  You can always check out race reports from last year...

I signed up last week. I did Athens early march and this will be my second tri. I am hoping to improve my time. This sure seems like a big swim in comparison to the others parts...that works for me though.

I did it last year it is a goodrace with a lot of stuff they give away at the end.  The course is fast and mostly flat at least for the bike the run has some rolling hills not too bad.  I will be doing it this year as well.

Just got back from the Ortho...Arthritus! Not injury! We made a deal. No more than 3 days of running per week. He likes the swimming and the biking part. And I have to be more consistent with the stretching.

The registration web site says

"Triathlon - Individual $60.00 (248 left from a total of 300)"

does this mean only 52 people have signed up out of 300 possible?

To the veterans of these races:  I've only done one back in March, so feel free to look at my training log...I'm getting "no love" on the "inspire me" section.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did this one last year, and I'd do it again this year if my schedule would allow.  It's a much smaller race than I'm used to around the metroplex, and it was really well done in my opinion.  Great course, also.

The lake is off Hiway 59 there are more than one way in so look for the sign it was a small cardboard one last year.  If you find yourself below the dam on aroad turning to the left you are in the wrong place.  I hope this helps

FROM THE RD.....

72 HOURS TO GO!!!!

I can not tell you how excited I am about this year's race and seeing all of you. We have another big event planned. Everything is falling in place.

PLEASE READ THIS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT INFORMATION – IT IS PROVIDED FOR YOUR BENEFIT

• It is very likely that our race will be wetsuit legal. It is up to you if you want to wear one. We will provide assistance getting your wetsuit off and returning it to you transition spot.
• Because of all the rain, the lake level is high. As a result we have redesigned the swim and bike courses. The swim goes out 225 yards and turns right, goes 200 yards and turns right and 225 back to land. We made only one change (for the better) to the bike course. A map will be provided in your race packet. You are responsible for know the course. As always though, it will be well marked and we have plenty of volunteers.
• Packet Pick-up is from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM Saturday at the race site. I will have packet pick-up from 6:00 AM until 7:00 AM on race day. Please do everything possible to be there on time.
• Transition spots are “first come, first serve”. We have redesigned the transition are so that no spot is better than another.
• Athletes may only pick up their own packets. Under no circumstances may an athlete pick up a packet for another person. Regarding relays, all relay members must be present to receive the packet, or split up the relay packet for each participant.
• If an athlete does not bring a photo ID to packet pickup they have two options:
* Go home to get it
* Have someone fax them a copy of their photo ID
• If an athlete does not bring their USAT membership card to packet pickup they have three options:
* Go home to get it
* Find internet access where a temporary card can be printed
* Purchase a one-day membership for $10 which can later be applied to a membership renewal by submitting a receipt of purchase
• Athletes that need to purchase a one-day license must sign the USAT waiver.
• It is imperative that numbers be visible to the race officials at all times. In that regard, body marking will begin a 7:00 AM next to the Atomic Timing Systems chip pick-up station. Athletes will be marked on the left side of the calf and on the left arm where they are visible on the bike. The race official must be able to see the numbers at all times in order to officiate effectively. They will write violations on athletes if they cannot see their numbers at all times they are on the course. You must wear your bib number on the run.
• All helmets bust be CPSC approved. Helmets will be checked when the bikes are racked. No approved helmet, no racing.
• I will have extra bar-end plugs. Athletes will not be allowed to complete with their bikes being plugged.
• Athletes caught riding anywhere in the vicinity of the race site before, during or after the race without their helmet on and chinstrap securely fastened will be disqualified and not allowed to race.

IF YOU NEED ANYTHING ELSE AT ALL, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL ME ON MY CELL – 903.748.3265
