Subject: RE: Best Tri BookI highly recommend a book by Eric Harr called Triathlon Training for the Rest of Us: From Couch to Starting Line in Five Hours a Week....don't let the title fool you. He's not promoting you'll "lose 10 lbs in two days!!!" or "Make $5000 per week working part-time from your bathtub!" I think the point of the title is more to take the awe away from the event, to bring it down to relateable terms that each of us has the potential and the ability to set the time aside to complete a training program.
The book is geared toward the beginner, yes, but it can also appeal to the more experienced...maybe not super uber athlete, but it's got a range of appeal.
He had a range of plans and good listings of equipment you need...and can differentieate between needs and "wants" to be able to participate.
That and Google searches and picking the brain of any triathlete I can find and picking the brains of everyone on this site I think I'm in pretty good shape.
I'm doing my first sprint tri in April an Olympic in june and if the Tri gods are happy with me will shoot for a half ironman in August....
Best of luck to you!
