Any opinions on XTERRA wetsuits? I got this email today and it seems like a great deal.

Vortex 2 MSRP = $395 = $197.50 after discount
Vector Pro X2 MSRP = $550 = $385 after discount

I am going to check with the wife and probably get the Vortex 2.

I have a Xterra full and an Orca sleeveless and the Xterra fits my body type better and is more flexible in the legs than the Orca.

If I were to do it all again I'd skip the Orca entirely and just have the Xterra.

This is just my personal experience with these models; We've sent back more then we sold.  It is my personal opinion that these models tear too easily.

The Vortex especially tears easily.  I had people in my store tear them just tring them on.  In my opinion, they suck.  I no longer carry Xterra wetsuits because of it.

I currently have a Vortex wetsuit, and don't really have anything bad to say about it. Granted, it's the only wetsuit I've ever had. I go swimming in open water during the main tri seasons at least 3 times a month (great thing about living close to the ocean) and have had it over a year. Bought it used, and although I haven't had any major tears, little rips are popping up in areas, but I'm guessing it's due to natural wear and tear, and I've bought wetsuit glue for it, fixes it right up.

You honestly can't beat the price with %50 off. I'm already a bad swimmer, so I highly doubt spending $250 (oh wait, sorry, I meant $350 ) more for a big piece of neoprene is really going to help...

Xterra wetsuits are absolute crap.
I’ve been making custom wetsuits & repairing & altering wetsuits for over 40 years now. My company is quite possibly the first custom wetsuit maker in the world (1954)
I’ve repaired 100’s of Xterra suits that should have been guaranteed by Xterra.
Xterra are the worst manufacturer ever, their customer service is horrible, and the whole lot of the San Diego employees, owner included are liars & cheats.
The suits are made in Cambodia & cost Xterra less than $25 total. The Neoprene they use is fragile at best & Xterra will tell you all those little crescent shaped rips are your fault, they are NOT your fault, it’s the fault of Xterra using crap material, those are stress fractures.
DO NOT buy an Xterra wetsuit under any circumstance.
Find any other manufacturer, but I repeat, DO NOT buy Xterra.

I spent a few years helping to coach a youth/jr triathlon team......Xterra wetsuits sucked IMO.  Tore WAY easier than other models.
