How long after, say, a 45 minute run at between 60-70% MHR should I expect my heart rate to return to its normal 60bpm? This is such an unimportant question, I just went to the doc today an hour and some after a run and my HR was 80, was surprised it was still that high. So was curious if anybody knows. You can see how hard I'm working today.

Did you take in any caffine after your workout? But you HR is going to be high for several hours after even an easy workout.

thats a hard question to answer- depends on your fitness level - If I have 3 or 4 hard days in a row it sometimes takes 12-18 hrs, ie upon waking the next morning - we had a thread a week or so ago and there was some discussion regarding traing zones and increasing by the 10% rule, of course we got into 10% distance, time, intensity - 2-6 hrs is normal and it could take 12 for an especially hard wrk out - look at your morning (pre get-out-of-bed) resting rate and if you see an elevated rate that may indocate your overtraining - 2-6 hrs and still buring calories, gotta love the afterburn!

I would also advocate the counting your RHR before you get out of bed method. I've been to the doc a lot the past month due to a medication adjustment (which we are still adjusting) and a sore shoulder and my HR has been all over the place. The lowest was 42 BPM and the highest was about 80. Crazy.

(But I was pretty pleased with the 42--probably a machine error--and totally impressed the med technician as well)
