Pre-race routine:

Check-in, set up Transition. Scope in & out to transition.
Event warmup:

Arrived a little late and only warmed up 10 minutes (inadequate) by running and loosening joints
Swim
  • 07m 32s
  • 150 yards
  • 05m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

Both calves cramped severely as soon as I jumped into pool. I spent about 3 or 4 minutes massaging them. rest of swim went fine.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

SPotted bike before getting into T1. Ran out and mounted well
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 48m 10s
  • 16 miles
  • 19.93 mile/hr
Comments:

Rolly course. My lack of power was evident on climbs. Climbs too short to fall into any rhythm. Very fast on corners, descents and the few flats. I forgot to keep my ankles relaxed. The climbing in conjuction with using new Newtons was reason my calfs cramped in pool.
What would you do differently?:

relax ankles and spin instead of mash
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 was really helmet off goggles on. Instead of running to pool I trotted and tried to relax and shake out body for a good swim.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 21m 12s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Not enough warm up. Pace was hard, but I tried to hold back a notch for ride.
What would you do differently?:

More warm up
Post race
Warm down:

By the time I was finsjed with swim I felt cooled down. Had pizza, banana and HEED and H2O

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hills on ride and calf cramps in pool

Event comments:

Course well marked and good volunteers. The only negatives are zero activities, only 1 aid station on course and no officinats on course to prevent drafting or shortcuts. Although I'm not sure if shortcutting would even be possible.

Great job!

Reverse order, pool swim triathlons are so much fun.

I did the Temecula tri a few years ago and had a blast. I'd like to do the Tinsel Tri in Hemet also.

Hey people! I hope someone can help me out. I plan to relocate to the Temecula area soon. I REALLY would like to know where I can find a good swim facility for training. Can anyone provide me with some tips? Greatly appreciated..
