Pre-race routine:

Ate 3/4 banana and 2 packs oatmeal, and some coffee. Braided my hair and went on down to race site w/ Sarah.
Event warmup:

Jogged around for a few minutes and stretched out.
Run
  • 1h 54m 53s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

It was cool and drizzly for most of the race. I really held back for the first loop, and I was feeling great. My calves threatened to cramp the last mile, as did my L quad. Also I got a side stitch the last 1.5 miles that made things very difficult- but I didin't let it affect me since I was almost done. I did set a PR by just over 3 minutes for this distance! Yay!
What would you do differently?:

I would have liked to drink more but I don't think I would have carried a bottle or anything. If I were training for this race specifically I would have trained on some hills which I have not done thus far.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and tried not to vomit. (Success).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of hill training, not enough fluids (maybe), no taper

Event comments:

I am definitely happy about the results of this race. I love setting PR's especially in long distances. Now on to the long bike ride tomorrow!
