Comments:

As soon as I jumped in, both my calves cramped up. I swam like that the entire way and still managed to pass many up. I briefly stopped at one of the ends to see if I could stretch it out. I should have swam through with the messed up legs.

Run to Bike. Took too long to clip in. Lost some time there.

This is where I regained my place. I could've went faster up the hills. I could've not used the brakes downhill. I shouldn't have drank until I was about 10 minutes in. I am happy with how I did. Next time, I should use the big ring. Up until now I would always use the little ring. With this race, I was spinning 114 on the smallest cog. I didn't want to try anything new. If I used the big gear, I would've been sooo much faster.
What would you do differently?:

Use the big gear. I need to work on my cornering and turns. My turns are too wide. Noet to self: get a Renn Disc. The sound of Carbon Discs spinning is amazing!!!

Bike to Swim. This was a mess! I should took my shoes off when I was on the bike. Next time, I won't tie them on so tight. It was to the swimming pool after this, so I ran in my socks for about 100 yards. (Someone said the T2 to the pool was 300 yards, but it didn't look like it.)

Comments:

This was my best run ever to date! Must be from all the 4/7/8 mile runs I would do everyday. It was a good idea to find someone and pace alongside him. That helped a lot.

Event comments:

This was a backwards race, beginning with a run, and ending in the pool. At the end of the race were narrow path to walk through. This was where everyone started cutting out of order. I think that that drastically affected my final time. I also remember looking up at the clock after grabbing my socks on the other side of the pool deck and it was 1:03:XX when I walked away from the pool area. I need to stop making those stupid race faces! Maybe some sunglasses would make them appear less stupid!

Course: The course has two climbs. The road was smooth, for the most part, with occasional potholes. The first is over a poor gravel road, so the climb is rough. The second climb is steeper, but the road is good, so it was quick and smooth. They are right after each other. There are two descents where you can pick up a lot of speed, depending on how comfortable you are. Just grab aerobar and get low!
