Swim
Comments: This was my first race so I didn't really know what to expect. This was also the first time I had swam in my wetsuit and I felt like this absolutely killed my swim time. My movement was fine, but the chest was so constricting that I could never get into a breathing rhythm, which in turn hurt my stroke. This was supposed to be my strongest leg of the race, and my training times were far better but I guess training in a pool is not even comparable to an OWS in a wetsuit. I guess it is something I'll just have to adjust too. It was fun though haha What would you do differently?: Train in my wet suit, train in OW. Transition 1
Comments: Just goin with the flow, probably could have made a few adjustments. What would you do differently?: Not sure yet Bike
Comments: So I knew coming into this leg that it was going to be my weakest, and I got passed by probably at least 20-30 ppl on the course. Lets just say that the Silver Comet Trail, although nice, doesn't offer ANYTHING in the form of hill training, and my bike segment was indicative of that. I guess I can't really trip out too much, because I had just bought my bike like a month and 1/2 before the race. What was interesting though is I had taped a pre-opened gel to my bike to try it out and when I reached for it at the start of the bike I got a handful of goo haha What would you do differently?: Hills, hills, hills. And intervals Transition 2
Comments: Was pretty tired at this point, just tried to get going. What would you do differently?: Not lollygag Run
Comments: I suppose I drank too much fluids on the bike, so I cramped up in my stomach immediately. Luckily this only lasted for a few minutes, but definitely hurt my run. I wanted to run about a 20 min. but yeah that didn't happen. At the end I was just glad to have finished haha What would you do differently?: More interval training, get my pace down to at least 6:00/mile. Post race
Warm down: Tried to hydrate, ran and saw my girl who was such a trooper for getting up at 4am with me to come cheer me on, and she gave me a kiss which made me feel better! What limited your ability to perform faster: Maybe I didn't train hard enough, but for my first race I'm sure a lot of ppl would just say stop your bitching! Event comments: This was a cool event, everybody there was really nice! Tons of volunteers to help too, made it a great day for a first Tri! Last updated: 2008-04-26 12:00 AM

Tri the Parks Triathlon Race Series
70F / 21C
Overcast
Overall Rank = ?/350
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 6/9
Got up about 4, had breakfast (smoothie, Oatmeal-to-Go, 1/2 a power bar), packed up the car and headed out to Carrollton.
Set up transition as best as I could, stretched for a little bit, then put on my wetsuit. Headed down to the beach to hop in for a quick warmup. I wanted to get in atleast a 200m but there just wasnt enough time, oh well.
