I can hear my IM watch under water when it beeps. I have it set to remind me about when to expect kids home from school....I'm not sure I could always hear it but sometimes I do.

Today I did my first real chest to the floor push ups.

Before CF I did lots of push ups over last couple years but never went all the way down and it was tough to get it but I'm stoked. Now to get pull ups!

Great job!  I used to be able to do full range push-ups, but that was a few years ago when I was in the Army.  Now, I can't do them; however, I'm getting closer each day!

My big successes this week were moving up another band in pull-ups and doing box jumps on the 20" box (before this, I was using a 12" box).  Also, I went for a 3-rep max in deadlifts and completed 185 pounds.  I love Crossfit!

I haven't been doing any tri training for the last couple of months, as I was focusing on getting all-around fitter and stronger and losing the extra weight.  I am thinking about starting CF Endurance in the spring to prepare for a September half-marathon.

Thanks!

Nice improvement on box jumps  and dead lifts.

I improved my deadlift max this week from 165# to 195#.

I love crossfit too. I try to go only 3x a week as it is fun but I need to get my s/b/r training in first and not have CF hurt my tri training. I'm doing a HIM in April in TX.

3

We all got in push up plank position in a circle so one person went then the next ect...so I did one at a time three times.

I look forward to seeing how many I can do in a row normal tomorrow at CF.

So...this month I plan to essentially do the CFE plan.  Basically, CF in the morning, and CFE at lunch or dinner.  There will be some days that I won't do the actual CFE workout, instead do a spin class or a 30 minute trainer ride, but...overall I'm looking at a CFE concept.  No real long distances, but consistently training in SBR (which I haven't done conSIStently in a long while).

The past two days have been tough, but I feel good.  Tomorrow is a rest day.

I'm interested in hearing how this works for you.  I am seriously considering using starting CFE in the spring to train for a fall half-marathon (no triathlons this year for me).

Our CF is shooting some type of a movie Sunday and have asked our family to be part of the shoot.

We are to bring three changes of clothes including sport bras, no make up, variety of shoes, clothes for both in and outdoor workouts and hair things (my hair is short) and have a 3 hour slot of working out with them.

The place doing it has impressive clients like Nike and Saucony and does high quality professional work.

It should be interesting not really sure why they want me to participate when looking at younger, fitter looking folks at our CF gym.

Crossfit shoot was a hoot. It was very professional with about 10 folks from production company and a couple came in from out of town as they had two cameras going, sound guy with boom, stager/dress women, lights, big reflective silver things and a few others doing various things. All those things you see about movies they did..quiet on the set, clicking that board with what take # on  it was, cut ect. They were there 10 hours to make 3 short videos 30 seconds to 3:30

We did a wod over and over and moved from doing olympic lifting, box jumps and wall balls. They were looking for certain shots. They were focusing in on me with a coach helping me and he said over do this part of the lift and I landed on my bum on the ground maybe I'll make the bloopers? After a break, they did group pull ups with kettlebell swings in background. They picked me to do kettlebell swings with them above me on a tall ladder because I was wearing my vibrams. They said the kettlebell would look huge due to the angle and I was doing 16KG. I couldn't wait for them to say cut as it was a bit long to do it.
To end it up they had us row on the ergs in front of the open garage door with sunlight peering in and it was 45 maybe,  in 6 teams of 2. Kevin, Emily (husband and 15 year old daughter) & I were chosen. They put glycoren on our arms and face, sprayed water so we looked sweaty and also our arm pits and places we'd normally sweat. Then we did 500 meter row then partner takes over, repeat. I was glad the director yelled cut.

It will be another 2-3 weeks before the finished product is done.

GREAT JOB!!!!

I love Fran. Or maybe I hate her. I hate her so much that I love her. Great stuff.

sorry I haven't posted much in this thread. I'm doing a Gym Jones variant called Military Athlete. Hard core stuff. No gymnnastics. Very strength oriented and focuse dot make us more durable to do things like climb, pick up items and move it, etc. I love it.

lvthgme - 2010-02-17 11:01 PM

Just a fun day today!  I did "Fran" as prescribed for the first time ever!  WOOT!!!  And earlier in the day I did a CFE workout (swim) that was also very encouraging.  I still can't do a 2 beat kick, but I may have made some progress on it, and I definitely made progress on my legs staying up and on swimming "smooth."  So, so, so fun!!!

I love to hate "Fran."  =)  It sounds so innocent...but it can mess me up for hours!  Have you had any fun milestones lately?

I am seeing lots of progress with weightlifting.  At my affiliate, we do a lifting workouts 2-3 times per week.  I'm still getting used to the movements and still find the snatch and the clean very awkward, but the rest of the lifts are going well.  I am now deadlifting 205 lbs, front squat 135 lbs, and clean and jerk 90 lbs.

On the metcons, I am inching closer to rx'ed.  I do weights, kettleballs, and wallballs at the women's weight.  Pull-ups are still with bands.  For box jumps, if I take my time and concentrate hard, I can jump on the 20 inch box.

I am planning on starting CF Endurance next week for running.  So, I will have 5 CF workouts/week and 2-3 CFE workouts/week.  We'll see if I have my nutrition and rest dialed in enough or if I crash hard.

This is my first peek at this thread. Can't believe I've been missing it this long. Anyhow, I'm a regular CrossFitter and have been for a little over 6 months. I can't believe the changes I've seen over that time in everything from overall strength to work capacity. I can't yet do men's Rx weights on workouts with overhead stuff (thrusters, OHS, etc.) but am close on most others. The last couple months have been pretty awesome for me with establishing some "credible" times/loads on a couple of tough ones. First, it was Fran @ 75# on the thrusters and I was really happy to hit 6:08. Yesterday was Josh (21 OHS @65#, 42 pull-ups, 15 OHS, 30 p-u, 9 OHS, 18 p-u) and while the time wasn't so important to me since I'd never done it, having full ROM OHS as well as killing it on the pull-ups - first set I did 22 in a row - was a blast.

Anyhow, I'm excited to connect with other CFers here on BT. I'm a big believer that its a great thing to do for anyone in just about any sport. We'll see how a few tris/run races this summer pan out.

Cheers!
Tom

Welcome to the group!  Those are some awesome results so far.  I started about 4 months ago and can't wait to see where I am in a year or so.  I anticipate that I will be insanely fit and ripped!

Well I have toyed with CF here and there over the years and now I am going to run a test and see this summer with doing CF and CF endurance what my tri season and rate times look like. After 2 IM DNF I need to spice things up and get back to my old roots with power lifting and incorporating plyometrics and such. I am way out of shape simce IMFL 08 DNF. I have gained roughly 40 pounds but it is coming off and I am hooked and looking forward to seeing where this summers rebirth to the sport via crossfit and cfe take me....great to see the cf thread is still going strong here!!!

Todays handing workout was a humbling 21 minutes and some change and it went a little something like this:

15 reps @135 lbs dead lift and pushups

The 9 rounds of 10 reps @135lb deadlifts and pushups

Ouch....but it hurt so good!!!
