Todays handing workout was a humbling 21 minutes and some change and it went a little something like this:

15 reps @135 lbs dead lift and pushups

The 9 rounds of 10 reps @135lb deadlifts and pushups

Ouch....but it hurt so good!!!

That was a brutal workout to get back into things!  I made it as rx'd in 24 min.  Still feeling it 3 days later.
Glad to see there are other CFer's here.  I've been doing it for about 3 years and got talked into a tri.  So I'm going to stick with CF as a base and swim and bike once a week or so.  We'll see how it goes.

I am going to do a two week free trial at the CF by me and I am really excited.  I have a few friends that do it and love it and they got me to try it out.  It looks like a lot of fun and I love working out so it should be great.  Wish me luck!

I did Murph for the first time on Saturday (my affiliate did it to celebrate the first day of spring).  It was not fun!

Our box did it Saturday as well. I tweaked my back doing dead lifts so didn't go.

But my 15 year old daughter did the whole thing...was so proud of her..she was so emotional she accomplished did it. My husband did 70%.

Unfortunately, I'm about 1.5 hours from Lancaster.  If I am ever in the area visiting friends or family and have some free time, I'll be sure to stop by.

There's a bunch of affiliates in the Philly area (including Tanya Wagner's in Souderton).  I'm sure you could probably stop by those affiliates for ideas or suggestions or just to see what they do.

Today's WOD is deadlifts.  We are not going for a new max for two more weeks, but I am seeing huge gains in my lifts even between max efforts.  About two months ago, my 1 rep max was 205 pounds.  Last week, I was able to easily lift 175 pounds, 5 times (it was the equivalent 5 rep max for my 1 rep max).  Tonight we are doing the equivalent 3 rep max for the old 1 rep max.  My hands are going to get pretty bad tonight since they are already messed up from lots of pull-ups (Jackie last night, Angie last Friday).  Deadlifts cause callouses on my hands almost as much as pull-ups!

Crazy!  I don't ever get calluses from dl.  Do you use a switch grip?  A women's bar?  We just got some new women's bars where I workout, and I'm soooo excited to do some deadlift work on them!  I've only ever used men's and that's a big difference!

We use men's bars for DL.  We use women's bars for all other lifts (unless, there are too many women who show up, then I usually get moved to a group using a men's bar).  I always use switch grip.

That stinks you get calluses from them. =(  I mean, I get it from pull-ups, but I wish I didn't even get those!  =)

Since I started CF, I find that I no longer pick at my nails.  Now, I pick at my callouses!  Some of the other women at my gym use gymnastics "gloves" when doing pull-ups so that they don't get callouses.  I don't feel comfortable using them since I want to make sure I can feel the bar.

Anyway, I just lifted 200 pounds 3 times!

Hey all!  I've been lurking on this thread, CF-ing for two months.

First, I did my first RX workout today, "Fight Gone Bad".  Yowza!!  I'll feel that tomorrow.

Second, I was wondering what any of you do about your wedding rings.  I never take mine off, I've already lost one ring (not wedding or engagement, thankfully) because I took it off "just for a second" and never saw it again.  But now, I've got a callus developing right under my ring especially for everything, even from doing deadlifts (which don't callus under any of my other fingers).

Any tips?

Thanks!
